Week Starting Off Sunny

Good Morning Everyone from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly…

We started out weekend off on the wet side but were able to push it away and bring back some sunshine. Still had a few clouds around but that helped to give a little break from the heat as temperatures hit upper 80’s on Saturday and low 90’s on Sunday. Although those temperatures seem warm we still are below average ( 95 degrees ) for our summer. In fact we have yet to hit 95 here in Abilene the warmest we have seen was 94 degrees back on June 13th!

We are going to start our third week in July off with some beautiful weather. The sunshine will be out in full swing today. We will still have some humidity around however dew points will stay in the low 60’s which will make it so it feel fairly comfortable. The reason is high pressure is dominating out to the west this will keep our upper levels dry and should limit rain chances through mid week as it stays steadily in place. We do have an upper level low forming out towards the Texas/Louisiana border which will be slowly drifting south through the week into Mexico. This will spark showers and thunderstorms along the coast and keep rain chances in the hill country.

By the end of the week we will put rain chances back in the forecast thanks to the upper level low. The best chance will be out in southern counties as they will be in the closet proximity.

By the weekend a week cool front may push through keeping the rain chances at 20 percent.

Through the week temperatures will stay with highs in the lower 90’s and lows just around 70 degrees!

Enjoy the wonderful weather and have a great day!
