Get Used to the Heat

From KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ..

I wished I could write that the rain chance was great and that temperatures will be cooling down. It would be nice but the chance for rain is slim and the chance for heat is great.

Our ultimate weather enforcer this time of year is high pressure, allowing heat to build temperatures to at or just above 100 degrees regularly.

A weak upper level feature may spark a few scattered thunderstorms Friday but most areas won't see anything.

For your upcoming weekend, expect more hot and dry weather.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, an isolated storm possible in the southern counties of the KRBC viewing area. Low near 75. South wind at 5.

Friday: Partly cloudy, 20% chance for storms, high 98. Southeast wind 5 to 10.

Saturday and Sunday: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny, 100-102 daily, lows middle 70's.

More Heat - A Few Places See Rain

From KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ...

A few areas will see rain, but not many. The pattern continues to have high pressure as our dominant weather feature - but a low pressure trough which is stuck in our area also provides the needed lift to interact with afternoon heating to create scattered showers and storms.

At night, a low level jet stream also adds some moisture to the equation which allows some storms to persist into the overnight hours.

Storms that develop will typically move very slowly this time of year, due to lack of any significant upper level steering winds. Therefore, localized areas can see some heavy rainfall - but most areas miss out entirely. such is summer weather here in the Big Country.

Thursday and Friday: A 20% chance for storms, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with highs near 100. Nighttime lows near 75.

Saturday through next Wednesday: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny, daily highs upper 90's, overnight lows middle 70's.

From KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ...

LAST YEAR WE NEVER TOUCHED 100 DEGREES - BUT THIS YEAR, THINGS ARE DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT. IT APPEARS WE WILL SEE 100 PLUS SEVERAL TIMES THIS WEEK. RAIN CHANCES ARE SLIM - I INCLUDED A SLIGHT 10% CHANCE WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY AND AREAS FAVORED TO SEE SHOWERS WOULD BE COUNTIES TO THE NORTH OF ABILENE. MAINLY HOT AND DRY FOR THE NEXT WEEK.

TONIGHT: MOSTLY CLEAR AND VERY WARM, LOW 76.

TUESDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT WITH 101. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 TO 15.

TUESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, 76.

WEDNESDAY: A VERY SLIGHT CHANCE FOR A STRAY STORM, OTHERWISE HOT WITH HIGHS AT 100.

TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT HERE TO STAY

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..

THE WEATHER STAYS HOT ALL WEEK LONG. THE MAIN STORY IS OUR TYPICAL LATE JULY HIGH PRESSURE, IN CONTROL AS USUAL, BUT RAIN NOT TOO FAR OFF TO THE NORTHWEST OF OUR AREA. REMNANTS OF DOLLY ARE STILL CAUSING SHOWERS ACROSS WEST TEXAS INTO THE PANHANDLE BUT DOUBTFUL ANY OF THAT MAKES IT INTO OUR AREA.

TONIGHT: MAINLY CLEAR WITH A FEW PASSING CLOUDS, LOW 74. SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST WIND 5 TO 10.

MONDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT AGAIN, 100. SOUTH WIND 10 TO 15.

TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY: SAME - SUN AND HEAT - AROUND 100 DAILY.

Return to Hot Weather This Weekend

FROM THE KRBC WEATHER CENTER ...

THE REMNANTS OF TROPICAL SYSTEM DOLLY WILL SPREAD CLOUDS THROUGH OUR AREA TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY. A FEW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP IN THE HILL COUNTRY AND MOVE INTO THE SOUTHERN BIG COUNTRY. THE CHANCE FOR RAIN SHOULD MOSTLY BE TONIGHT BUT CAN'T RULE OUT A SHOWER OR TWO TOMORROW.

TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO BE A LITTLE COOLER, BUT NOT MUCH, THROUGH FRIDAY. AFTER THAT, HIGH PRESSURE REGAINS CONTROL AND DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE APPROACHING 100 DEGREES EACH DAY THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

THERE WILL BE NO RAIN CHANCES THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

TONIGHT: MAINLY CLOUDY WITH SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS ACROSS MAINLY SOUTH OF I-20. LOWS TONIGHT NEAR 73.

FRIDAY: CONSIDERABLE CLOUDINESS WITH SOME AFTERNOON SUN AND ONE OR TWO STORMS POSSIBLE BUT DRY MOST AREAS. HIGH NEAR 93.

FRIDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, 73.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY, UPPER 90'S.

Hot Weather Continues

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Dolly is approaching the Lower Rio Grande Valley this morning as I write this blog bringing very heavy rain to south Texas. I talked to a good friend of mine who is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi who reports very heavy rainfall with the northern bands moving across that area. I asked him to please share because we really need a good soaking rain up this way. Speaking of Dolly and rain, it looks like we are going to miss out on any rain from Dolly...models tend to say everything will stay around I-10 and southward. Just clouds from the system working up this way.

* Speaking of rain, we are now officially below normal on rainfall for the year. As of this morning, Abilene is now 0.01" below normal on rainfall. The US Drought Monitor has most of the Big Country under D0-Abnormally Dry drought conditions, while the far Eastern and Western Big Country, Heartland, and Northern Concho Valley are under D1-Moderate Drought Conditions.

* Our forecast will remain hot and dry for the next seven days with highs in the upper 90s and lows into the middle 70s with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. I will be somewhat cooler to end the week thanks to more clouds because of Dolly, but still plenty of heat for the area.

Hot & Dry To Start The Week

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* High pressure will dominate the weather pattern through the week across the Big Country, Heartland and Northern Concho Valley. Highs will be a few degrees above normal into the upper 90s through next week with overnight lows about normal for this time of the year into the lower 70s. Humidity will be kinda high as well, so it will be a bit sticky. We'll keep an eye to the Gulf of Mexico on Dolly to see if it could change my forecast come late week.

* Rain Chances: Pattern does not look good for well organized rain event for the next seven days. Having said that, there could be a stray thunderstorm pop up in the daytime heating, especially with upper 90s and higher humidity values. It looks as if the rain from Dolly will stay well south of the KRBC viewing area. We'll only see some increased cloud cover come late week.

Typical July Weather is Here Awhile

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..

THE WEATHER SETTLES IN TO A TYPICAL DRY AND HOT PATTERN OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. RAIN CHANCES REMAIN VERY SLIM - PRIMARY WEATHER FEATURE IS THE HEAT AND A FAIR AMOUNT OF HUMIDITY. REMEMBER THE HEAT SAFETY TIPS - DRINK PLENTY OF WATER - MAKE SURE YOUR PETS HAVE AMPLE WATER - DON'T OVERDO IT IN THE HEAT - LIMIT MOST OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES TO THE MORNING HOURS IF POSSIBLE.

TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, ISOLATED SHOWERS WESTERN COUNTIES. LOW NEAR 73. SOUTH WIND 5 TO 10.

FRIDAY THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK: PARTLY CLOUDY DAILY WITH HIGHS IN THE MIDDLE 90'S AND LOWS IN THE LOW 70'S.

Hot & Dry Weather Settles Back In Place:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Hot and dry weather forecast will began to dominate the forecast today and as we head into the weekend. Area of high pressure to our west and east, as well as dry air filtering in from the South Central U.S. will help bring highs back into the upper 90s the next few days. There is a slight chance for isolated t-storms today, mainly in the far western Big Country. The moisture surge/axis has shifted somewhat west from yesterday.

* Down the road, temperatures remain slightly above normal into the upper 90s with lows in the lower to middle 70s. Look for partly cloudy days and night through the next seven days. With the daytime heating, there could be a few widely isolated storms pop up each afternoon and early evening.

One More Round Today:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and eveningacross the Big Country. Another band this morning is just moving across the northern areas. We finally picked up some rainfall in Abilene during the evening hours on Tuesday... officially 0.01" (just enough to wet the roads and pavement) while north of I-20 some areas got another good soaking.

* Upper high has shifted a little farther southwest over the last 24hours. This is allowing the weak shortwaves rotating around the periphery to a little farther south than last night. The best moisture fetch is running right across our area so expect a occasional showers and storms to develop during the day in random spots.

Showers Stay in the Forecast

From KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ...

THE RAIN STAYS IN THE FORECAST FOR THE SHORT TERM AND RE-ENTERS THE FORECAST IN THE LONG-TERM.

A MOISTURE AXIS REMAINS DRAPED ACROSS OUR AREA, EVIDENT BY THE CLOUDS THIS AFTERNOON AND SOME SHOWERS IN THE AREA. BEING ON THE EAST SIDE OF A HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE, THE MOISTURE IS TRAPPED AND SHOULD LEAD TO ANOTHER ROUND OF OVERNIGHT SHOWERS AND A GOOD CHANCE FOR RAIN ON WEDNESDAY.

SHOWERS SHOULD BE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY, BUT DUE TO ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE COMING INTO TEXAS FROM THE SOUTHEAST THIS WEEKEND, I'VE PUT RAIN BACK IN THE FORECAST FOR SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
TEMPERATURES SHOULD STAY A LITTLE BELOW NORMAL FOR AFTERNOON HIGHS EACH OF THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS.

TONIGHT: A FEW SHOWERS, LOW 73.

TOMORROW: CONSIDERABLE CLOUDINESS, HIGH 88, 40% CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. SOUTHEAST WIND 5 TO 15.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, LOW 72, A FEW SHOWERS.

THURSDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, 20% CHANCE FOR SHOWERS, HIGH 92.

Another Round of Storms Today:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms dropping southeast this morning across the Big Country. Upper high has shifted a little farther southwest over the last 24 hours. This is allowing the weak shortwaves rotating around the periphery to a little farther south than last night. Looks like the Big Country and eventually the northern Heartland will see the best precipitation chances for today. Activity a little more scattered this afternoon, allowing enough sunshine to allow temperatures to climb.

Rain Chances Today & Tomorrow:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* A front remains semi-stalled to our south across the Southern Concho Valley and Edwards Plateau. Along and north of this boundary, we will see scattered showers and thunderstorms develop in the daytime heating. The best rain chances look to be this afternoon and evening as the front slowly washes out to our south. Rain chances will remain in the forecast tonight and Tuesday, although only at slight chances.

* Ridge will build over Texas as we get into the week with daytime highs warming back to normal and just above normal into the upper 90s as we get into the week.

Chance for Rain Continues

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ....

THE WEATHER WILL REMAIN WARM THIS WEEK, AS YOU WOULD EXPECT IN JULY, BUT TEMPERATURES STILL A LITTLE BELOW THE NORMAL CAN BE EXPECTED SO HOPEFULLY YOU WON'T HAVE TO RUN THE AIR CONDITIONER QUITE SO MUCH.

WE ALSO HAVE A CHANCE FOR RAIN IN THE FORECAST TONIGHT, MONDAY, MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY AS A WEAK FRONT REMAINS STALLED OUT ACROSS THE AREA.

TONIGHT: A 30% CHANCE FOR SHOWERS OR A THUNDERSTORM. LOW NEAR 71. NORTHEAST WIND 5 TO 10.

MONDAY: A 30% CHANCE FOR SHOWERS OR A THUNDERSTORM. HIGH NEAR 90. EAST WIND AROUND 10.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY: SLIGHT CHANCE FOR SHOWERS, OTHERWISE PARTLY CLOUDY WITH HIGHS IN THE LOW 90'S.

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

Hotter Temps Return

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..

WHILE SOME RAIN SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH TOMORROW, THEY WILL BE ISOLATED IN NATURE. THE PATTERN IS RETURNING TO TYPICAL HOT AND DRY OVER THE NEXT WEEK OR SO.

THERE IS A COLD FRONT WHICH IS FORECAST TO HANG UP ACROSS THE RED RIVER OR NORTH OF THERE SO THE BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN STAYS TO OUR NORTH THE NEXT FEW DAYS. IF YOU LIVE IN A NORTHERN BIG COUNTRY COUNTY (KNOX, KING, KENT, STONEWALL - YOU'LL BE CLOSER TO THE ACTIVITY)

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A LOW OF 71. AN ISOLATED SHOWER IS POSSIBLE. SOUTH WIND AT 5.

THURSDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, ISOLATED AFTERNOON SHOWER IS POSSIBLE, BUT DRY FOR MOST. HIGH 94. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 TO 15.

THURSDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, LOW 72.

FRIDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, HIGH 94.

WEEKEND: PARTLY CLOUDY, HIGHS AROUND 96.

Tuesday, July 08, 2008

Slight Rain Chance Through Thursday

MORE AFTERNOON SHOWERS STAY IN YOUR FORECAST THROUGH THURSDAY. JUST AS WE SAW SHOWERS YESTERDAY, MORE DEVELOPED AROUND THE AREA TODAY AND THIS TREND SHOULD CONTINUE THROUGH THURSDAY ALTHOUGH TODAY APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN THE BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN.

TEMPERATURES, WHILE COMFORTABLE TODAY, WILL BE ON THE RISE FROM THE MIDDLE TO END OF THE WEEK, INCLUDING THE UPCOMING WEEKEND. I'M FORECASTING DRY WEATHER THIS WEEKEND.

TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS, ENDING LATE. LOW NEAR 70.

WEDNESDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A 20% CHANCE FOR SHOWERS OR ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. HIGH NEAR 91. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 TO 15.

THURSDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, 20% RAIN CHANCE, HIGH 93.

FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY WITH HIGHS IN THE MIDDLE 90'S.

More Rain Chances Today:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* An area of high pressure continues to sit across the Southeast. Southeasterly flow around the high continues bring moisture from the Gulf of Mexico across Texas. With daytime heating combined with this ample moisture supply, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop across the Big Country, Heartland and Concho Valley today. Also look for more cloudy cover today as well. A cold front to the north will make it's final push southward before stalling over the Red River/Texoma area late tonight. This front will kick off some storms over the northern Big County as well.

* Enjoy the rain while we have it as the the high will shift westward as we approach the end of the week shutting the Gulf of Mexico moisture off from Texas so we'll return to a dry pattern by the end of the week. Temperatures by the weekend will be back in the middle and upper 90s. Would not be surprised to see the triple digits in a few spots.

July Showers Bring ... Cooler Temps

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER .....

YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT JULY AS BEING WET BUT THIS WEEK, IT IS. SHOWERS ARE IN MY FORECAST THROUGH THURSDAY.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IS A CONSTANT FLOW OF WARM, MOIST GULF OF MEXICO AIR INTO SOUTH TEXAS - MOISTURE WHICH MOVES NORTHWARD INTO OUR AREA. SIMPLY HEAT IT UP AND OUT POP THE SHOWERS ALMOST LIKE CLOCK WORK. I'M EXPECTING NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND ISOLATED STORMS TUESDAY - AT LEAST A 30% CHANCE IF NOT GREATER TO THE SOUTH OF ABILENE. THE HEAVIEST RAINS, HOWEVER, WILL REMAIN ACROSS SOUTH TEXAS AND THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY.

MORE CLOUDS SHOULD TRANSLATE INTO SLIGHTLY COOLER TEMPERATURES ON TUESDAY - I'M FORECASTING UPPER 80'S TO NEAR 90. RAIN STAYS IN THE FORECAST THROUGH THURSDAY.

MONDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS. LOW NEAR 70. SOUTH WIND AT 5 TO 10.

TUESDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A GOOD CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND ISOLATED STORMS. MOVEMENT WILL BE SOUTH TO NORTH. SOME COULD PRODUCE HEAVY DOWNPOURS BUT NONE ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME SEVERE. HIGH OF 89. SOUTHEAST WIND 10 TO 20.

TUESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH SHOWERS IN THE AREA, LOW 70.

Rain Chances The Next Few Days

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* An area of high pressure sits to our east across the Deep South and with this feature to our east, this puts us in southeasterly flow bringing moisture from the Gulf of Mexico across the Lone Star State. With daytime heating, a few thunderstorms will be possible today across the area.

* Models suggest a disturbance will rotate around the high and move into south Texas and work it's way north tomorrow helping increase rain chances. A cold front to the north is trying it's best to work southward at the same time. Showers and thunderstorms that develop on this front will work into the northern Big Country tomorrow afternoon and evening. For now, it looks like the best chance of rain is for Tuesday afternoon and evening.

* The high will shift some westward toward mid-week shutting the Gulf of Mexico moisture off from Texas so we'll return to a dry pattern by the end of the week.

* Temperatures will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s the next few days thanks to rain and cloud cover. Highs will climb back into the middle 90s come the end of the week.

Isolated Showers This Week

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ...

LOOKING AHEAD TO THIS WEEK'S WEATHER - THERE IS RAIN IN OUR FORECAST EACH DAY THROUGH THURSDAY - BUT THAT CERTAINLY DOESN'T MEAN ALL AREAS WILL SEE RAIN THIS WEEK. IN FACT, IT'LL MAINLY BE THE SOUTHERN COUNTIES OF THE BIG COUNTRY AND THE NORTHERN COUNTIES THAT HAVE THE BEST CHANCE.

THE SOUTHERN COUNTIES WILL BE INFLUENCED BY SOME TROPICAL ACTIVITY WHICH WILL TEND TO DRIFT NORTHWARD OUT OF THE HILL COUNTRY.
THE NORTHERN COUNTIES MAY SEE SOME SHOWERS APPROACH FROM A COLD FRONT BUT THE MAJORITY OF OUR AREA WILL SEE JUST SPOTTY RAINFALL THIS WEEK.

TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH VERY ISOLATED SHOWERS, LOW IN THE UPPER 60'S. LIGHT SOUTH WIND.

MONDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS IN THE AFTERNOON. HIGH 91. SOUTH SOUTHEAST WIND 10 TO 15.

TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A DAILY SLIGHT CHANCE OF ISOLATED SHOWERS, AROUND 90 FOR HIGHS.

Thursday, July 03, 2008

Nice Weekend for the 4th !

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ...

A FEW SMALL HEAT GENERATED SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH THIS EVENING AND ALSO ON FRIDAY, THE FOURTH OF JULY. NO WIDESPREAD RAIN COVERAGE IS EXPECTED AND MOST AREAS WILL JUST SIMPLY SEE PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES. THE PATTERN SHOULDN'T CHANGE TOO MUCH SATURDAY OR SUNDAY WITH ONLY THE ISOLATED VARIETY SHOWER AND TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 90'S. I'M STILL HOLDING WITH A 20% CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS MONDAY THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK.

THURSDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, ISOLATED SHOWERS, LOW 70.

FRIDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, ISOLATED AFTERNOON SHOWERS, HIGH 93.

FRIDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, ISOLATED EVENING SHOWERS, LOW 72.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, LOW 90'S, WITH A HIT OR MISS SHOWER POSSIBLE.

Same Old Song & Dance In Weather:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* A cold front to the north will stall over Oklahoma late today. One forecast model is stalling the front close to the Red River and develops thunderstorms on this front. There could be a storm or two later this evening roughly north of US 380, or an Aspermont-Haskell-Throckmorton line. Most of the action will probably stay up in Texoma. Otherwise, with daytime heating a stray thunderstorm could develop in any given spot across the Big Country, Heartland and Northern Concho Valley each day. Mostly Sunny to Partly Cloudy conditions with highs in the middle 90s and lows in the lower 70s across the board with that very isolated pop-up storm are the main weather feaures into the middle of next week.

*4th of July: Partly Cloudy with highs in the middle 90s. I can't rule out a stray thunderstorm in the daytime heating of the day. Weather should be great for the nightly fireworks events across West Central Texas!

KRBC Triple Doppler Forecast:

Today:
Partly Cloudy, Breezy & Warm
A Very Isolated T-Storm
Highs: 90-95°
Wind: S 5-15

Friday (4th of July):

Warm and Dry Most of the Time

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..

NO MAJOR CHANGES TO MY FORECAST TODAY, COMPARED TO WHAT I TALKED ABOUT YESTERDAY. IT IS A MAINLY DRY FORECAST BUT A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS ARE STILL POSSIBLE THROUGH THE EVENING THANKS TO AFTERNOON HEATING.

AS WE APPROACH THE FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY, STILL MAINLY DRY WEATHER AREA WIDE WITH THE BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN SOUTH OF OUR AREA ALONG THE TEXAS COAST AND THE VALLEY OF SOUTH TEXAS. RAIN PROBABILITIES FOR OUR AREA ARE AROUND 10 PERCENT OR LESS THROUGH SATURDAY THEN 10 TO 20 PERCENT SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.

OUR HIGH TEMPERATURES EACH OF THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS WILL BE FROM 90 TO 95 DEGREES, VERY NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

LOWS FROM 69-72 EACH OF THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

Fair Weather Today:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* The stalled front to the south has dissipated and now we're left with average July weather across West Central Texas. A cold front to the north will stall over Oklahoma so no more relief in the extended forecast over than a stray storm that could develop in the daytime heating. Forecast models are hinting at the heat ridge building back eastward by next week. In the immediate forecast, highs will gradually climb back into the middle 90s and overnight lows in the lower 70s.

*4th of July: Weather looks great for grilling out and having fun with the family. Partly Cloudy with highs in the middle 90s. I can't rule out a stray thunderstorm in the daytime heating of the day. Otherwise,if your heading to an event in the evening weather looks nice too, through it may be a bit warm!

ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE FOR THE 4TH

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..

IT WAS A PARTLY CLOUDY DAY TODAY AND LOOKED RAINY ALL AFTERNOON BUT THE AREAS THAT SAW THE RAIN WERE LIMITED PRIMARILY TO SOUTHERN COLEMAN COUNTY AND RUNNELS COUNTY. AN ISOLATED STORM OR SHOWER IS STILL POSSIBLE INTO THE EVENING HOURS.

AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEXT THREE DAYS, I'M LEAVING THE FORECAST MAINLY DRY. WHILE A TYPICAL HIT AND MISS SHOWER IS POSSIBLE, MOST AREAS STAY DRY.

I DID MAKE SOME CHANGES TO THE FORECAST FROM SATURDAY THROUGH NEXT TUESDAY - THE MAIN CHANGE BEING RAIN BACK IN THE FORECAST, 20% DAILY, WHICH ALSO HOLDS DOWN OUR TEMPERATURES JUST A LITTLE.

IT'S TOO EARLY TO SAY RIGHT NOW, BUT MODELS ARE PAINTING AN EVEN BRIGHTER PICTURE FOR RAIN EARLY NEXT WEEK. I PREFER TO WAIT AND WATCH THIS POSSIBILITY FOR ANOTHER COUPLE DAYS BEFORE REACHING THAT CONCLUSION WITH AN CERTAINTY.

TONIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY, LOW NEAR 70. LIGHT SOUTH WIND.

WEDNESDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, HIGH 93. SOUTH WIND 5 TO 15.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, LOW 90S.

WEEKEND: PARTLY CLOUDY, 20% CHANCE FOR RAIN, LOW 90'S.

Drying Out & Warming Up Today:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Welcome to July! June ended on a wet note for many of you, especially in the Heartland, but overall many of us ended the month on a dry note. The official climate data at Abilene Regional Airport goes down with -0.54" of rainfall for the month. So far, we're still on the upside for the year with a surplus of +1.20" and we would gladly take more but dry weather is settling back in to our area.

* Stalled out front is still down across the southern Edwards Plateau and the Hill Country this morning and will slowly fizzle out. We're not expecting any rain off this system, but clouds from rains that do develop well south of here will drift northward today so expect a few in the sky. It will be warmer today with highs back in the lower 90s but I expect it to be a bit cooler across the Heartland thanks to some more clouds and from the multiple inch rains in recent days. Partly Cloudy with highs in the middle 90s is the forecast heading into the holiday weekend,

*4th of July: Weather looks great for grilling out and having fun with the family. Partly Cloudy with highs in the middle 90s. If your heading to an event in the evening weather looks nice too, through it may be a bit warm!
