Thursday Morning

Good morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly …

The clouds held strong yesterday but the sun was able to break through getting temperatures in the mid 80's. A few natural fireworks popped up but that didn't ruin everyone's 4th of July plans!

Overnight we have stayed calm with just a few showers in our southern counties.

Today the low will continue to churn down to our south, located right now around the Austin area. We also have another system located in the panhandle sparking storms this morning to our north. We will keep the rain chances at 50 %. The low will most impact our southern and eastern counties and the system in the panhandle could bring a few showers and thunderstorms to our northern counties however not ruling out a storm all across the area. With again a mix of sun and clouds we will stay in the mid 80's. Today may be one more day to hit a museum or movie but good news may be coming.

The long lasting low looks to move more northeast. If the system can stay to our east that means decreasing rain chances for our area, right now going with 30% for Friday and 20% over the next seven days. With a very moist airmass in place and heating of the day it will be easy to at least see an isolated thunderstorm over the next several days. As we see more sunshine temperatures will climb into the upper 80's and get back to the 90's by early next week.

Hope you had a Happy Fourth and have a good day today!
