A WINTER STORM WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED THROUGH NOON FRIDAY FOR ABILENE AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES TO THE EAST, WEST AND NORTH. READ THE OFFICIAL ADVISORY BELOW.

COUNTIES SOUTH OF ABILENE (COLEMAN AND BROWNWOOD AREAS) ARE INCLUDED IN A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LESSER AMOUNTS OF ICE. AREAWIDE, HAZARDOUS TRAVEL IS NOW EXPECTED TONIGHT THROUGH NOON FRIDAY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN ANGELO HAS ISSUED A WINTERSTORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO12 PM CST FRIDAY. THIS REPLACES THE WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH ISNO LONGER IN EFFECT.RAIN WILL BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD LATE THIS AFTERNOON. ASTEMPERATURES DROP BELOW FREEZING...THE RAIN WILL MIX WITHFREEZING RAIN AND POSSIBLY SLEET OVERNIGHT. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OFONE TENTH TO ONE QUARTER INCH ARE POSSIBLE BY LATE FRIDAY MORNINGACROSS THE BIG COUNTRY. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVEFREEZING MID DAY FRIDAY WHEN PRECIPITATION WILL CHANGE OVER TO ALLRAIN.
