The Cold Front Has Arrived

From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...

With a cold front moving through the area this morning, we have already seen our highs for today. They mainly occurred just after midnight, so the official high for the day will be a lot warmer than what we experience for much of the day. We will likely not make it past the mid to upper 30s this afternoon. With breezy conditions expected through the day, wind chills will be in the teens and 20s. We have had some dense fog and drizzle across portions of the area this morning. With temperatures at and below freezing in many locations, it is possible for us to have some slick spots so be careful and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.

It will be cold tonight with lows in the low to mid 20s. With a hard freeze expected for the area, you need to be sure and protect your pets, plants and pipes for tonight.

Wednesday should be warmer, but still chilly with highs in the mid to upper 40s under mostly cloudy skies.

Another cold front is expected to move through the region late Wednesday. This will bring cold temperatures back to the Big Country once again. Highs for Thursday look to be in the low to mid 30s under mostly cloudy skies. It is possible for us to see a wintry mix overnight Wednesday night into Thursday. The chance is only 20% right now, but that could change as we get closer to that time period.

Our best chance at precipitation this week is 30% and that will be on Friday. We could see some frozen precipitation early in the morning, but it will change to all rain later in the day as highs reach the low to mid 40s.

Chances for rain will be with us this weekend. We have a 20% chance on Saturday and a slight chance on Sunday. It should be warmer with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Be safe out there today and have a terrific Tuesday!
