Freezing Rain Advisory Has Been Issued

The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for part of the viewing area. Here is the statement from their office:

STAMFORD...ANSON...HAMLIN...ALBANY...ABILENE...CLYDE...BAIRD...CROSS PLAINS 822 AM CST TUE JAN 22 2008...

FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM CST THIS AFTERNOON...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SAN ANGELO HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON. LIGHT FREEZING RAIN AND FREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE BIG COUNTRY THROUGH THE MORNING AND EARLY AFTERNOON HOURS. WITH TEMPERATURES REMAINING BELOW FREEZING...ICE IS FORMING ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF THE INTERSTATE 20 CORRIDOR. SEVERAL ACCIDENTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPORTED IN THE SWEETWATER AREA. MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO DRIVE CAREFULLY TODAY AND AVOID DRIVING ON ELEVATED ROAD SURFACES IF POSSIBLE. ALTHOUGH ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT...ROADS...STAIRWAYS AND OTHER ELEVATED SURFACES WILL BE SLICK. WITH WINDS OF 15 TO 20MPH...WIND CHILL READINGS WILL BE IN THE TEENS. A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN ORFREEZING DRIZZLE WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FORSLIPPERY ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
