Wednesday Night Update

From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...

The rain and cloudy skies came to an end across the Big Country this morning. By the afternoon, skies were mostly sunny with windy conditions from the west-southwest. Highs were mainly in the 50s except in the southeastern portions of the viewing area which made it into the low 60s.

Winter officially begins tomorrow at 6:22 p.m. It looks like the end of the fall season and beginning of winter will be dry. Mostly sunny skies are expected Thursday and Friday with highs in the mid 50s.

A cold front is expected to move through the Big Country on Saturday. This will bring colder temperatures to the region for the weekend and Christmas Day. Highs should be in the 40s on each of those days. An upper level low looks to develop to our west and move south of the viewing area Saturday and Sunday. At this time, there is a 20% chance of precipitation this weekend. If the air is cold enough and the low isn't too far south, then we may see some snow Saturday night into Sunday morning. It is still a little too early to tell exactly what we will see and how much, but we are keeping a close eye on this situation and will continue to keep you updated.

Tuesday and next Wednesday should be dry with mostly sunny skies and highs in the 50s.

Have a terrific Thursday!
