Tuesday Night Update

From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...

We had chilly conditions across the area as well as periods of rain. Temperatures ranged from the 30s in Sweetwater and Snyder to the 40s in Abilene and Brownwood. Snyder has had over three quarters of an inch of rain with Sweetwater and Abilene each getting over half an inch.

Showers and even a few thunderstorms are expected to continue off and on overnight tonight and through the morning hours tomorrow. We will also see fog during the night and morning so be careful. Mostly cloudy skies in the morning should turn partly cloudy in the afternoon. With some sunshine and windy conditions from the west-southwest, we will likely see highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Thursday, the first day of winter, and Friday still look dry with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 50s.

A cold front is expected to arrive late Friday into early Saturday. This will bring much colder temperatures to the area. Highs this weekend look to be in the low 40s. We have a 30% chance of precipitation Saturday and Sunday. At this time, it looks like we will see rain on Saturday possibly change to a wintry mix or snow that night and into Sunday morning. With above freezing temperatures expected during the day on Christmas Eve, any frozen precipitation that we do see should turn back to rain. This event is still several days away. It is a situation we are keeping a very close eye on and will continue to keep you updated through the week.

Christmas Day and Tuesday look dry with highs remaining in the 40s.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
