It was a beautiful New Years Eve with plenty of sunshine! The temperatures were a little cool not even hitting 50 here in Abilene and the windy were gusty. The good thing is come sunset tonight we will calm those winds down for at least the next few days. It will be a chilly overnight with temperatures in the upper 20’s. So grab the jacket when you go out for your New Years Eve party! The first day of the New Year will warm up to just around average with plenty of sunshine once again.
Tuesday will bring in a few clouds with mid 50’s and lows in the lower 30’s. Wednesday will bring in the next Low pressure system with a chance for a shower, mainly into the overnight. Temperatures will cool with highs in the upper 40’s and lows in the upper 30’s.
Friday will be a warm one with temperatures in the upper 60’s, however with our next front pushing through that evening we will cool down the first weekend of the new year with temperatures in the mid 50’s.

A Wet Start to the Weekend
Good Evening from Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
It was a soggy start to the Holiday Weekend, with Shower and Thunderstorms across the Big Country. There was even a reported tornado 2 miles East of Stephenville. Pea sized hail was reported in Rule and Anson as well. The showers will continue through out the evening and into the morning hours. We could see anywhere’s from a quarter of an inch of rain to an inch of rain possible. The system will slowly begin to move its way northeast and with that we will begin to see the decreasing clouds by Saturday afternoon. Tomorrow temperatures will stay around average with mid 50’s and overnight lows in the mid 30’s. However the winds will be back with gusts again near 40 mph.
New Years Eve the sunshine will come back in full swing with Mostly Sunny skies continuing until New Years Day. Temperature will be in the upper 50’s with lows in the lower 30’s.
Tuesday we will bring back the clouds and cool temperatures with highs only in the upper 40’s and rain chances back for Wednesday. Overnight lows will again stay in the mid 30’s.
Have a great Holiday Weekend!

Monday Update!
From Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
Christmas night was the perfect time to huddle around the fireplace with low temperatures dropping into the 20’s across the Big Country. However when the sun came up so did the temperatures reaching into the lower 60’s today. Overnight tonight we will drop the temperatures again but with stronger southerly winds we will keep the temperatures into the upper 30’s tonight.
Tomorrow we will stay much above average with highs reaching to 70 degrees. The biggest factor will be the winds blowing at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Because of this a lake wind advisory is in effect. Overnight should stay very mild with lows staying in the upper 40’s. By Thursday we will drop highs to the mid 60’s with rain chances beginning Thursday night into Friday as our next Low pushes into the region. A pacific cold front will pass through that evening dropping our temperatures around 10 degrees and bring us back to some cooler weather.
For the holiday weekend we are looking at highs in the lower 50’s with overnight lows dropping into the upper 20’s with plenty of sunshine!

Saturday Night Update
Good Evening from Meteorologist Kristen Connolly….
With a low pressure system in northern Mexico we have seen the Mostly Sunny skies turn to Mostly Cloudy skies. Showers have been intermittent in our southern counties around the Brownwood, Comanche area. We will see the scattered showers around the Big Country continue through the evening and overnight with up to a quarter inch accumulation. Our temperatures will also stay about freezing which means the precipitation will be liquid.
Last minute shoppers will be happy tomorrow as the clouds will clear out and by afternoon we will see the sun peaking through. Temperatures will rebound from the chilly 40’s today to mid 50’s. But the clearing we will also lower the temperatures overnight making it a chilly start for Santa in our area with temps in the low 30’s. Christmas weather will be perfect to try out all your new toys outside. Temperatures will hit the upper 50’s with Mostly Sunny skies.
The holiday week we will see seasonal temperatures in the upper 50’s and lows in the mid 30’s. Right now we will see Partly Cloudy skies with a slight chance for another shot of rain Thursday.
Have a great holiday weekend and Merry Christmas!

Holiday Weekend Forecast
Good Evening from Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
Winter has officially begun and we started it off with Sunny skies and temperatures just a little above seasonal. Tonight conditions should begin to feel more like the season, our Temperatures will stay in the mid 30’s with the cloud cover increasing. We will see the temperatures near 10 degrees below average tomorrow, hitting the upper 40’s. In the afternoon we will see some scattered showers with the best chance towards our Southern counties. The showers will continue into the overnight where temperatures will reach around 30 degrees. Because of the below freezing temperatures we could see a few snow flurries but not much in accumulation. It is good to note that the roads may be slippery but nothing like we saw a few weeks ago when the winter storm pushed through.
By Sunday we will begin to clear out the clouds and see Partly Cloudy for most of the Christmas week. Christmas day temperatures will be just around 50 degrees and we should warm things up to upper 50’s by mid week.
Enjoy the holidays and travel safe!

Thursday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
We had cooler temperatures in the area today thanks in part to winds from the northwest. Highs ranged from 46 in Snyder to 61 in Brownwood. The fall season came to an end at 6:22 p.m., so we are officially in winter now.
Our first full day of winter tomorrow looks to be dry with mostly sunny skies. With winds shifting back to the west-southwest, it should be warmer with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Colder temperatures are still expected this weekend with highs in the low to mid 40s on Saturday. An upper level low looks to develop around the Big Bend area. It is expected to travel south of the Big Country along the Interstate 10 corridor. At this time, it looks like the southern half of the viewing area has the best shot at seeing precipitation. We have a chance for rain during the day on Saturday. It will mix with or possibly change to snow Saturday night around midnight and last until about 7 a.m. Sunday morning. If the air is cold enough and there is enough moisture and the low takes the right track, then accumulating snow is possible. Any snow that we see should melt during the day on Sunday as highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 40s.
Christmas Day looks to be a little chilly with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 40s to low 50s.
We should see dry conditions and highs in the 50s for Tuesday through Thursday.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Winter starting off chilly!
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly…
Winter officially begins today at 6:22 pm and the temperatures this morning are a quick reminder of what season we are transitioning too. However, by the afternoon we will stay mild making it into the upper 50’s. With plenty of sunshine there are no problems for all the kids that will begin Christmas break this afternoon, nor anyone who is out doing there last minute shopping! Tomorrow the beautiful conditions will continue and it won’t be until the weekend where the next change will embark.
Another front will pass through the area cooling us off for the weekend and along with it we will see another low pressure system move towards the Texas/New Mexico/Mexico border. Snow/rain chances aren’t looking as promising as the past few days but still the best chance is Saturday night in Sunday. The best chance of precipitation will most likely occur towards our Southern Counties. The one thing you will need is the gloves and scarf, overnight lows will be in upper 20’s with highs reaching upper 40’s.
The clouds will begin to clear out by the beginning of the week with Christmas looking pleasant with temperatures in the lower 50’s. Tuesday and Wednesday we will warm the highs to upper 50’s.
Have a great day!

Our next front will pass through on Friday bringing with it some cooler air for the weekend. We are also seeing another system pushing into our area. Right now with a chance of precipitation from Saturday into Sunday and with the cooler temps we could see some snow if everything plays out right. Tuesday Morning Update
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
With a cold front passing through we cooled off yesterday however our southern counties still were able to reach into the 70’s because of the delayed front. The same front is now stalled down in southern Texas and will eventually push up through our area as a warm front rising our temperatures Wednesday and Thursday. However the big issue for today is an upper level low pressure system that is pushing towards Texas. This along with the moisture we have in place will help us a see steady shot rain throughout the afternoon with showers continuing in the evening as well. Also be careful in the morning hours as fog has developed across much of the Big Country. Temperatures between day and night won’t vary but a few degrees with highs in lower 50’s and lows in the upper 40’s. With this system we could also see an isolated thunderstorm as well.
Tomorrow we could see an isolated shower before noon, with the clouds clearing out in the afternoon. This will help us to cool down into the overnight with upper 30’s for lows. Thursday and Friday will be Sunny with temperatures a little above average for afternoon highs reaching around 60 degrees. Overnight lows will be cold reaching just below freezing.
The weekend will bring in another system that could bring some more rain or snow showers. Currently forecasted temperatures looking chilly enough to see snow in the overnight Saturday if all will factors play out right. However this is still 5 days away and we will watch it as it gets closer. Right now around 20-30% chance with mid 40’s for highs and upper 20’s for lows.

Monday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
What a difference twenty-four hours makes. Yesterday we had near record-highs in the afternoon. Today, most of the viewing area set highs early in the morning before a cold front moved through the area. Highs were mainly in the 50s except for the southeastern portions where they were in the mid 60s to low 70s.
An upper level low that is currently in Arizona is going to make its way through the Four Corners region before lifting into the Central Plains over the next couple of days. This will bring showers and possibly some thunderstorms into the area tonight through the first half of Wednesday. The best shot at rain looks to be Tuesday. It looks like we will also see some fog the next couple of days. Be careful if you are going to be on the roadways. It has been a while since we have seen some rain, so roads will be slick once the water starts hitting the asphalt. Chilly temperatures are expected tomorrow with highs in the mid 40s to around 50. We should warm up some on Wednesday with highs around 60 under mostly cloudy skies.
Thursday, the first official day of winter, and Friday look to be dry with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Another cold front is expected to move through the area on Saturday. Cold Canadian air should filter in behind it. An upper level low looks to move through or close to the area this weekend. Right now, we have a 20% to 30% chance of precipitation. We have the possibility of seeing some snow late Saturday and into Sunday. This is a situation we will be keeping a close eye on all week. Stay tuned for the latest.
Have a terrific Tuesday!

Plenty of Rain Chances
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
We almost hit record highs yesterday, with plenty of sunshine, it was a beautiful day. However this morning a front is passing through the Big Country cooling us down and brining in the clouds. We will see temperatures cooler towards the Northern counties where the front hit this morning reaching temperatures in the mid 50’s. Towards our Southern Counties temperatures should be able to stay in the lower 60’s as the front won’t pass till around noontime. Rain chances are looking best into the overnight and Tuesday but we can’t rule out an isolated one this evening.
Firefighters will be happy Tuesday as it is looking like the best shot of steady rain that we have had in a while, we could even see a thunderstorm possible. Temperatures will stay cooler, topping off of only around 50 degrees. Overnight temperatures will not cool down with a big drop staying in mid 40’s.
Wednesday the rain chances will begin to die down with clouds also decreasing. Temperatures will warm up a bit more hitting around 60 with overnight cooling to mid 30’s. Enjoy the sunshine Thursday and Friday with similar temperatures as Wednesday.
Friday brings in the next front, cooling us back to the upper 40’s Saturday as well as helping us to put the rain chances on the board again. Temperatures Saturday into Sunday cool us to just around freezing, so we will be watching this system closely over the next few days and keep you updated if their might be some wintry precipitation.
Have a great week!

Much Cooler With Chances For Precipitation This Week
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
We started off with some patchy fog in parts of the Big Country this morning. By this afternoon, the sky was sunny across the area. Highs were near record levels today. At Abilene Regional Airport, we reached 77 which was one degree shy of the record high for this date which was set in 1962.
The week ahead looks very different from what we experienced the past seven days. A cold front will move through the viewing area late tonight through early tomorrow. Monday should be much cooler with highs in the mid 50s to low 60s. There is a 20% chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Better rain chances begin Monday night through Tuesday. An upper level low to our west will strengthen over southern Arizona and lift northeastward into the central plains. Due to mostly cloudy skies and rain possible throughout the day on Tuesday, highs look to be in the upper 40s to low 50s.
The chance for showers and thunderstorms will decrease through the day on Wednesday. Highs should be a little warmer than Tuesday, but still cool in the mid to upper 50s.
Thursday, the first official day of winter, should be dry with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s. Friday is expected to be similar.
Another cold front is expected to arrive on Saturday. This should bring even cooler temperatures to the region. Right now, highs for next weekend look to be in the upper 40s. There is a 20% chance for showers on Saturday and a 20% chance for rain and possibly some wintry precipitation on Sunday. Some computer models are indicating the chance for some snow late Saturday and into Sunday. It is too early to tell exactly what we will see that day, but we will be keeping a close eye on this situation and letting you know how it develops over the coming days.
Have a magnificent Monday!

Friday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
Warm and breezy conditions remained in the Big Country today. With skies remaining sunny to mostly sunny and winds from the south-southwest, we easily made it into the 70s for highs.
It will remain warm this weekend with highs in the mid 70s to low 80s. The breezy south-southwesterly winds that we have experienced the last couple of days should be stronger Saturday and Sunday. With dry conditions expected to continue through the weekend, an elevated fire danger will remain.
Changes still look to take place on Monday with the arrival of a cold front. This will bring much cooler temperatures into the area for next week. Highs should be in the mid 60s on Monday under mostly cloudy skies. There is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.
There is still a good chance for precipitation Tuesday through early Thursday thanks to an upper level low that looks to move close to or perhaps over the Big Country. At this time, it is likely that we will see mainly rain on those days. However, there is still a chance that we could see some snow or frozen precipitation with the rain. In order for us to get any wintry precipitation, the low would have to take a certain track and the air that filters into the region would have to be cold enough. It is too early to tell exactly what we will see since the low hasn't even formed yet. This is a situation that we are keeping a close eye on. We will continue to keep you updated with the latest forecast.
Have a super Saturday!

Friday Morning Forecast!
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly….
We are approaching record highs, with temperatures reaching mid 70’s by today. The winds have also picked up bringing in the drier air and plenty of sunshine again, with a few high clouds. Because of these conditions the fire danger is still high, so take a little extra precaution. Our overnight will stay more mild then the past few days with the temperatures in the upper 40’s to lower 50’s and clear skies. Tomorrow conditions will once again be similar with highs getting close to 80.
Sunday will gradually begin our change bringing in some more moisture and cooling temperatures a few degrees. Monday begins our more winter like weather with rain chances on the board that continue through the middle of the week. A cold front will move through the area and cool us off to below average highs in the 40’s by Tuesday. Overnight lows will be approaching freezing, so we will be keeping a close eye on the system with what kind of precipitation we may be getting.
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts!

Thursday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
It was another warm and breezy day here in the Big Country. Highs were in the upper 60s to mid 70s which is a little warmer than yesterday. There were a few more clouds in the area, but they were mainly high level cirrus.
We can expect the warm and breezy conditions to continue through Sunday. Skies should be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 70s. There will be an elevated fire danger through the end of the week so please continue to be careful.
A cold front looks to move through the area on Monday. There is a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs should be in the mid 60s under mostly cloudy skies.
An upper level low is expected to develop behind the front and move close to or possibly over the area Tuesday, Wednesday, and early Thursday. It looks like we will have at least a 40% chance of rain. Highs should be in the upper 40s to around 50. There is a possiblity, and I stress the word possibility, that we may see some wintry precipitation late Tuesday and into Wednesday. At this time, it looks like it will be an all rain event. We are six days away from this situation so we have plenty of time to see how things develop. As always, we will keep a close eye on this storm system and let you know the latest.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Wednesday Morning Update
Good morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly….
With high pressure in place and pacific air being pushed in we are going to stay pleasant for the rest of the week. The jet will be trapping all the cooler air up to the Northern US. For Share your Christmas we couldn’t ask for better weather – plenty of sunshine with highs just around 70 degrees. The winds will also be light but start picking up by the weekend. Overnight temps should begin to stay in the 40’s, however, a jacket will still be needed.
Temperatures over the next few days will be carbon copies with a few degree increase each day. Highs will stay in the lower to mid 70’s by the weekend with overnight lows in the mid 40’s to approaching 50 by the end of the weekend.
Our next front will be approaching by the beginning of the work week with rain chances on Tuesday and cooler temps being pushed in, however this will only bring us back to around average for this time of year.
Have a great day and come out and donate for Share Your Christmas!

Tuesday Morning Update
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
We have dried out after a dry line pushed through yesterday. Overnight temperatures have been able to drop to upper 30’s lower 40’s with lighter winds out of the west, and clearer skies. A cold front is pushing through the area but because it is so weak it will only drop temperatures few degrees. Temperatures today should reach upper 60’s with abundant sunshine.
We will see high pressure system building in behind the front which will only keep around the warmth for the next few days. Each day looks to be a few degrees warmer with Temperatures hitting lower 70’s by Thursday. With our winds sticking out of the Southwest we will continue to bring in the drier air and winds starting to pick up more by the weekend. Overnights will be chilly, with clear skies and winds dieing down, temperatures will dip into the upper 30’s through the week and 40’s by the weekend.
Our next system is approaching by the beginning of next week. If all factors play out right it could be out next chance of precipitation, however, we will have to watch it as it is still a ways out.

Monday Morning Forecast
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
The weekend turned out warm even with some cloud cover. It was perfect weather to get out and put up those Christmas lights. Again today we will be warming up with high temperatures even hitting 70. Along with warmth the clouds will roll out to Mostly Sunny skies and winds will be gusting even up to 30 mph. The only problem could be some fire danger. So please take a little extra precaution. A small cold front will pass through our area tonight, but because it is pacific in nature we will only cool a few degrees.
The rest of the week is looking pretty quiet. With the jet stream in the Northern US we will keep temperatures above average reaching upper 60’s until the weekend. However with the clear skies overnight, temperatures will cool down to upper 30’s.

Saturday Night Update
Good Evening from Meteorologist Kristen Connolly…
The Clouds increased today as well as the winds picking up. Both of these factors will help us to stay mild overnight with lows in the mid 40’s. Tomorrow the winds will increase again as well as our temperatures. We should see mid 60’s with overnight lows just around 50 degrees.
Monday will be a warmer day before the next front punches through that evening. We will see Partly Cloudy skies, with a very slight chance for a shower in our Eastern counties. Temperatures will top off at just around 70 degrees.
After the front passes Monday night, the rest of the week looks pretty redundant with Mostly Sunny skies and temperature in the mid 60’s with lows in the mid 30’s.
Have a great rest of the weekend!

Warmer Temperatures This Weekend
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
We started off very cold this morning here in the Big Country with temperatures in the teens to low 20s. It was the coldest morning of the season so far at Abilene Regional Airport which had a low of 16. The record low for this date is 10 which was set last year. Temperatures rebounded nicely this afternoon with highs in the mid 40s to around 50.
Tomorrow should be a little warmer with mostly cloudy skies. Highs are expected to be in the mid 50s, but if there are enough breaks in the clouds we could reach the upper 50s. Winds will be breezy from the south-southwest.
The warming trend looks to continue Sunday and Monday. Skies should be partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 60s. A cold front is expected to arrive late Monday bringing a chance for rain. That chance is 20% right now and it looks like the best shot at precipitation will be in the northern and eastern portions of the viewing. The northern portions will have the best dynamics while the eastern portions will have the best moisture.
Mostly cloudy skies and a 20% chance for rain are expected on Tuesday. Highs look to be in the upper 50s.
Dry conditions look to return Wednesday through next Friday. Highs should be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Have a super Saturday!

Friday Morning Forecast!
Good Friday morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly…
Overnight temperatures bottomed out around the Big Country into the 20’s, with even a few spots plummeting into the teens. The one blessing was with light winds, wind chills were not much of a factor. With our Southerly winds returning for today we will see temperatures similar to yesterday. However clouds will be increasing in the morning and by the afternoon we should see mostly cloudy skies. Overnight the cloud cover should help us to stay a bit warmer with lows only dropping into the mid 30’s.
The weekend should bring back some warmer temps with highs Saturday in the mid 50’s and Sunday in the lower 60’s. Overnights will stick in the mid 40’s with partly cloudy skies.
The beginning of the week should bring our next chance for some light precipitation, with moisture available, a disturbance rolling through and an upper level low, factors seem to be in place. We will also see another cold front budge through around Tuesday although it won’t plunge our temps like the last few have.
Have a great weekend!

Thursday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
It was a chilly afternoon in the Big Country as a second shot of colder air arrived. Highs were mainly in the 40s, but with breezy north-northeasterly winds it felt like it was in the 30s.
Tonight will be cold with lows in the upper teens to low 20s. You will need to protect your pets, plants, and pipes. Also, be sure to bundle up as you head to school and work in the morning.
Tomorrow looks to be similar to today with a cool afternoon and highs in the upper 40s. The difference will be lighter south winds.
It looks like there will be a mixture of a mostly and partly cloudy sky this weekend. Temperatures should be warmer with highs on Saturday in the low 50s and mid 60s on Sunday.
An upper level low, disturbances, and a cold front still look to affect the region on Monday and Tuesday. There is a 20% chance of showers on those days with highs ranging from the upper 50s to mid 60s.
Dry conditions should return Wednesday and Thursday with a mostly sunny sky and highs in the low 60s.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Thursday Morning Update
We had a week cold front move through yesterday but still managed to make it to highs in the upper 50’s. Overnight we have stayed chilly into the 30’s but nothing like we will make it down to tonight. With another shot of colder air our highs today will make it into the upper 40’s with a few Southern places making it into the lower 50’s. We should see Mostly Sunny skies with a few southern counties seeing some clouds passing by.
Overnight lows in the Northern counties where the cloud cover will be nil we could see temps reach into the lower 20’s with a few places reaching into the teens. In the Southern counties if the clouds stick around we could only see mid to upper 20’s, however if it breaks we could see even a few degrees colder.
Tomorrow temperatures should be similar to today with a few degrees increase and partly cloudy skies. Through the weekend things should warm back up to upper 50’s to lower 60’s with our lows around 42 degrees. Monday and Tuesday brings in our next rain chances with a system passing by and moisture available. Along with that our next cold should be rolling through next Monday to Tuesday.

Wednesday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
We were a little cooler today across much of the Big Country thanks to a cold front that moved through during the late morning to early afternoon hours. Unfortunately, it was a dry frontal passage for us because we could really use the rain.
A high pressure system will set up to our north tomorrow and cause breezy north-northeast winds. Canadian air will be pumped into the region causing chilly temperatures. Highs are expected to be in the low to mid 40s. Wind chills should be in the 30s.
You will definitely want to protect your pets, plants, and pipes Thursday night. Lows look to drop into the upper teens to low 20s. This means everyone needs to bundle up as they head to school and work Friday morning.
Temperatures are expected to rebound nicely Friday afternoon. Despite a very cold start and a partly cloudy sky, highs should reach the upper 40s to low 50s.
The partly cloudy sky looks to continue this weekend with warmer temperatures. Highs on Saturday should be in the upper 50s with mid 60s likely on Sunday.
Moisture is expected to have returned to the region by early next week. With an upper level low, disturbances, and a cold front possibly moving into the Big Country Monday and Tuesday, we have a chance for rain. That chance is only slight right now since the best moisture will be just east of the area. Highs on those days look to be in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Have a terrific Thursday!

Tuesday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
It was cold again this morning with temperatures in the upper 20s to low 30s across the area. A mostly sunny sky and breezy south-southwest winds helped to warm us up into the low 60s for highs. This is a little above average for this time of year.
Temperatures should remain above freezing tonight with lows in the mid to upper 30s. Winds from the south-southwest are part of the reason why we should be warmer tonight.
A cold front is expected to arrive around the midday to early afternoon hours on Wednesday. Highs look to be in the low 60s. If the front arrives earlier, then we should be in the mid to upper 50s. If it arrives later, we could see highs in the mid 60s. No rain is expected with the front.
The coldest temperatures of the next seven days will be on Thursday and Friday. Mostly sunny conditions are likely with highs in the low 50s and lows in the mid 20s to low 30s.
A warming trend should take place this weekend with an increase in cloud cover. Highs look to be in the upper 50s on Saturday and the mid 60s on Sunday.
With moisture increasing this weekend and early next week as well as an upper level low and disturbances expected to be in the region, there is a chance for rain on Monday and Tuesday. That chance is only slight to 20% right now, but could increase or decrease depending on the exact track of the system. We'll continue to keep you updated on this precipitation possibility through the week.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Monday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
We had our coldest morning of the season so far today. Most locations were in the upper teens with Abilene Regional Airport reporting a low of 18. That was close to the record low for this date which was 15 set back in 1897. With plenty of sunshine this afternoon and south winds, we were able to make it into the upper 40s to low 50s for highs across the area.
Tonight will be warmer, but still cold as lows will be in the low 30s. This means a light freeze is expected in most locations. There may be some frost in the morning so give yourself some extra time to scrape off the windshield.
Above average temperatures return tomorrow. With a mostly sunny sky and breezy winds from the south-southwest, highs look to be in the mid 60s.
A cold front is expected to arrive on Wednesday cooling highs temperatures back down into the 50s for the second half of the work week. The disturbance that was going to bring us a chance for rain Wednesday night and Thursday will likely move too far south to bring any precipitation to our area. We'll continue to keep an eye on this since a track further to the north would bring a chance for rain to the region.
Warmer temperatures should return this weekend and early next week with an increase in clouds. Highs look to be in the upper 50s on Saturday and the mid 60s on Sunday.

Roller Coaster Ride Of Temperatures This Week
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
After seasonal temperatures yesterday, we returned to chilly conditions today. We began the morning with an overcast sky and temperatures in the upper 20s. By this afternoon we had plenty of sunshine, but highs only made it into the upper 30s to mid 40s.
Tonight looks to be the coldest night of the season so far. As I write this, temperatures are already at or below freezing across the area. High pressure should settle in bringing us optimal radiational cooling conditions. Lows should be in the upper teens to low 20s. Be sure to protect your pets, plants, and pipes.
Temperatures are expected to return to and above seasonal averages over the next couple of days. We should see plenty of sun tomorrow and a few clouds on Tuesday. Highs will be in the low 50s on Monday and the low 60s on Tuesday.
A cold front will likely move through the area on Wednesday bringing us cooler conditions for the second half of the work week. Highs should reach the upper 50s on Wednesday and the low 50s on Thursday and Friday. There is a slight chance for rain Wednesday night and Thursday with the best shot at precipitaiton being in the southern communities.
Next weekend looks pleasant with dry conditions and highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Have a magnificent Monday!

Friday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
Warmer temperatures returned to the Big Country today with highs in the mid to upper 50s in most locations. This is still below average for this time of year. The well above freezing temperatures helped the melting process of the snow and ice across the area. With temperatures expected to fall below freezing again tonight, you will still want to be careful because there could be a few slick spots out there during the overnight and early morning hours.
We should continue to see a mostly sunny sky tomorrow and temperatures a little cooler than today. Highs look to be in the low 50s. A cold front is expected late tomorrow which will give us a reinforcement of cold air.
Sunday is expected to be the coldest of the next seven with highs in the low to mid 40s. No precipitation is expected with or behind this front, but it should be partly cloudy for the second half of the weekend.
For the first half of next week, we will see a return to the 50s for highs and lows in the mid 20s to mid 30s. The sky should be mostly sunny.
Another cold front looks to arrive late Wednesday bringing us a 20% chance of rain Wednesday night and Thursday. This front is likely to cool high temperatures back down into the 40s.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Moring Forecast!
From Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly
Yesterday, winter came into full swing with cold temperatures and a mix of sleet that turned into snow causing lots of delays and cancellations. Through most of the day wind chills didn’t make it past the teens with temperatures barely making it into the 30’s. Overnight we have stayed cold, the good thing is the winds have died down a bit but wind chills still are in the teens.
Today we will warm up much above yesterday into the upper 40’s with plenty of sunshine. However it will be still around 10 degrees below average for this time of year. Into the overnight our lows should make it to just around 30 with clear skies. Tomorrow we will have another shot of cold area pushing in, however, it will only push our temperatures down a few degrees Sunday. Come Monday we should begin to see a small warming trend that should help us get back to around average by the end of the week.
By mid next week we may be able to see another shower, with our next disturbance pushing through. Although chilly, the weekend is looking dry.
Have a great one!
