Triple Digit Heat Into The Weekend:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Hot and dry weather pattern settles into place as we head into the weekend across West Central Texas. Highs today range from the middle to upper 90s. On Saturday and Sunday we'll see highs ranging between 100-105° across the area. Overnight lows each night will range between 70-75° in the area. Expect abundant sunshine for Friday, Saturday and into Sunday as well.

* Next Week: Some clouds return into next week but we're still holding onto triple digit temperatures for Monday and Tuesday with highs between 100-103° but we'll slowly drop back into the middle and upper 90s by the middle of the weekend. Long range models show no decent rain chances into next week so we'll maintain a warm and dry forecast into next week.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the very hot weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.

* Drought Information: West Central Texas remains well above normal on rainfall this year so no drought issues here locally at the present time. The data is updated by the government every Thursday morning around 7:30 AM local time.
