Hot & Muggy Weather Continues:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Partly cloudy out there this morning with a few scattered showers and storms that have popped up early this morning over the western half of the Big Country. These storms are drifting westward and southwestward this morning. There is a weak disturbance helping fire these showers and storms off this morning. I'm going to leave a 20% chance for a storm in the forecast for today, otherwise it will be a hot and humid day with highs in the middle and upper 90s. A few clouds tonight, warm and humid with lows in the lower to middle 70s.

* The Week Ahead: Hot and humid weather will remain in the forecast for the week ahead with highs in the middle and upper 90s and overnight lows in the lower to midle 70s. Expect a partly cloudy sky each day. There is a slight chance for rain for Wednesday across the eastern counties and a slight chance for rain over the weekend.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the very hot weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.

* Drought Information: West Central Texas remains well above normal on rainfall this year so no drought issues here locally at the present time. For the latest drought information for the state of Texas please visit the U.S Drought Monitor website by clicking here. The data is updated by the government every Thursday morning around 7:30 AM local time.
