Another Hot & Dry Day:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Hot and dry weather pattern still in place across West Central Texas. Abundant sunshine today with highs back into the upper 90s and overnight lows in the middle 70s. Cloud cover will slowly pick back up for the late week as southeasterly flow begins to pick back up and daytime heating will allow for development of fair weather cumulus clouds. Highs will remain in the middle to upper 90s for the late week with overnight lows in the middle 70s. The forecast remains dry into the late week. Some spots may hit the triple digits at times the next few days.

* The Weekend: Not much happening for the upcoming weekend. Partly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday with highs in the middle to upper 90s and overnight lows in the middle 70s. We remain dry for the weekend with no rain chances.

* Next Week: Models are bringing a cold front into West Texas early next week and also trying to develop a low pressure area in the vicinity. With this pattern I've added a slight chance of a storm or two and also lowered highs a bit into early next week into the lower to middle 90s Will keep an eye on this the next few days because not too confident the front will make it as far south as the model runs are suggesting this morning.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the very hot weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
