Say It Isn't So !!!

From KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ...

If I could guarantee sunshine and perfect temperatures every single weekend, I would. Believe me, I would.

So it is with heavy heart that I bring you bad news for Saturday .... less sunshine and cool weather. Sure, we had a high of 92 on Thursday ... and temperatures are suppose to be warm this time of year ... but an interesting thing happens this weekend.

A high pressure area is going to tap into some cool air across the Plains and deliver it to the Big Country Friday night and Saturday. Clouds should also develop by sunrise Saturday morning .. and with cool temperatures being trapped under clouds ... it simply won't warm up much on Saturday.

Bottom line - upper 40's in the morning (low 50's south of Abilene) to the low 60's Saturday afternoon (mid 60's south of Abilene). Wind coming in from the east at 10 to 20 will keep a chill in the air all day Saturday.

Things begin to change Saturday night as a push of Gulf moisture makes its way north. Lows in the low to mid 50's can be expected. Mother's Day Sunday we should have some showers in the area as highs get a little warmer in the mid 70's.

The influx of Gulf moisture and south wind continues Sunday night as lows in the mid 60's return for a rapid warmup. Some showers possible again Sunday night, can't rule out an isolated thunderstorm.

And how is 90 degrees for Monday? Plus, the dry line (a possible thunderstorm producer) will be in the area so late Monday afternoon, if ingredients fall into place, a couple thunderstorms could develop. If they do, it will be sudden and spectacular ... so keep an eye to the sky late Monday afternoon, just in case.

Take care, enjoy the weekend ... keep the jacket handy!!
