A Wet, Warm & Humid Week Ahead:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteoroloigst Chris Whited...

* The overall forecast for the week is not going to change that much so the updates to the weather blog are pretty much going to be recycled over the next several days as we are set up for a wet, warm and humid pattern for the Big Country, the Northern Concho Valley and the Northern Heartland. We have an area of high pressure sitting to the east and is pretty much stationary. Clockwise flow around the high pressure will pump moisture from the Gulf of Mexico into Texas. Daytime heading and a few disturbances in the southeast flow will trigger thunderstorms chances each day this week. The best storms chances will be during the day with isolated storm chances at night. The highest rain chances will be into the middle of the week. High temperatures this week will be in the lower to middle 70s with overnight lows in the middle to upper 50s. The airmass is not going to be very comfortable as we will stay humid this week. A few peeks of sunshine now and then but overall we will stay mostly cloudy this week.

* Severe Weather: At the moment the threat for an organized severe weather event is low. The above mentioned high will block any upper level systems from working in from the west. The jetstream pattern will take these systems to our north. This is still April so any thunderstorms that do develop could be strong or could briefly reach severe limits.

* The Good News: All these rain chances will help all you allergy suffers as this will washing all the pollen (except for the mold spores which will be high with the moist and warm pattern) this week out of the area. As we've been mentioning pollen is pretty bad around here this spring. We can thank this to above normal precipitation this winter and early spring which is allowing everything to bloom and green up!

* KRBC Weathering The Storm: We would like to invite you to watch our spring severe weather special this Thursday night at 6:30 P.M. on KRBC. We have a lot of interesting topics the entire weather team will cover from how El Nino is going to affect the severe weather season, the process of how the NWS issues a weather warning, and we revisit Breckenridge to see how the city is recovering from a tornado back in the spring two years ago.

* Drought Information: For the latest drought information for the state of Texas please visit the U.S Drought Monitor website by clicking here. The data is updated by the government every Thursday morning around 7:30 AM local time.
