Major Rain Event Arrives Tonight:



Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

*** Flash Flood Watch in effect for the Big Country, the Northern Heartland, and the Northern Concho Valley tonight and into Wednesday. ***

* Major rain event moving into the Big Country tonight with the possiblity of Flash Flooding. Heavy rains from the reminants of Tropical Storm Hermine will develop throughout the evening tonight and continue during the day on Wednesday. Expect rain totals on the average of 1-3 inches with some areas possibly seeing 4-8 inches. High today near 84 degrees with a low tonight of 67.

* The Week Ahead: Clouds will decrease late Wednesday and Thursday as the rain pushes out of the area. Partly cloudy conditions will prevail towards the end of the week. Highs will be near 90 degrees with lows around 70. Models are indicating dry weather for the weekend with highs near 92 degrees and lows close to 70.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the hot and humid weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
