Decreasing Clouds, Breezy & Cooler Today:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Showers and thunderstorms will gradually end this morning across West Central Texas. Clouds will stick around this morning but will begin to clear out as the day progresses and by afternoon we should be partly cloudy across the region. Much cooler today with a refreshing north wind and highs only in the lower and middle 80s. We'll be mostly clear tonight with lows in the middle and upper 50s! Great weather for the area football games tonight but some of the seats and the fields will still be a bit damp.

* Weekend: Great weather ahead for the Labor Day holiday weekend for the Big Country, the Northern Heartland and the Northern Concho Valley. Mostly sunny on Saturday and Sunday with highs in the upper 80s on Saturday and lower 90s on Sunday. Overnight lows will be nice into the middle to upper 60s.

* Next Week: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy and pleasant on Labor Day with highs in the lower 90s. Forecast models bring rain chances back into the area by Tuesday and Wednesday with another front moving into the area. Highs in the low 90s Tuesday but drop back into the 80s for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The models are also trying to keep some rain around for the middle and later half of next as well.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the hot and humid weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
