An Isolated Storm Possible Today:
Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* Same old song and dance in the weather pattern for West Central Texas on this Thursday. A warm start this morning with temperatures ranging from the lower to upper 70s and mostly clear. As the day progresses we'll begin to see cumulus clouds develop around midday and into the afternoon. It will remain muggy with highs today in the lower to middle 90s with overnight lows ranging from the lower to upper 70s. Even though high pressure is in control the models are hinting at isolated storm chances this afternoon and early evening over the western counties and our northern counties. Our Futurecast model is showing scattered storms in our area as well. So I've decided to go ahead and insert a 20 percent chance for a thunderstorms but overall high pressure should continue suppress most thunderstorm activity.
* Late Week/Weekend: More warm and muggy weather ahead for the Big Country, the Northern Heartland and the Northern Concho Valley under a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky. As I mentioned yesterday the front makes it to about the Red River before it runs out of gas. Highs remain in the lower 90s with overnight lows in the lower 70s. The muggy feel will remain into the weekend across West Central Texas.
* Next Week: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy each day with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and overnight lows into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Models are hinting at a rain chance toward Thursday of next week. It'll remain a bit muggy into next week.

The "Muggies" Stick Around:
Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* Another muggy and warm day is ahead for the Big Country, the Northern Heartland and the Northern Concho Valley on this Tuesday. With the humid air mass in place we could see a few isolated storms try to develop this afternoon and evening but overall high pressure will remain in control of our current weather. Expect a partly cloudy day today with highs in the lower to middle 90s with overnight lows in the lower to middle 70s.
* Late Week: A warm and muggy forecast is expected for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday across West Central Texas under a partly cloudy sky each day. Highs in the lower to middle 90s with overnight lows in the lower 70s. Yesterday on the blog I discussed a weak front making it into the Big Country by late Friday and into Saturday. The models have eased back on the front making it into our area so I've kept temperatures about where they have been in the lower to middle 90s and I've also cut the rain chance out of my forecast package this morning.
* Weekend: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy over the weekend with highs in the lower 90s and overnight lows into the lower 70s. It'll probably remain muggy out there to take it easy if you're going to be outdoors this weekend.

Warmer But Humid Today:
Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* Warm and humid this morning with low clouds developing across the area. We'll be mostly cloudy for a while and then become partly cloudy by late morning. We could still see an isolated shower or thunderstorm today with the tropical air mass over the Big Country leftover from Hermine. Highs today warmer into the lower 90s. Lows tonight into the lower to middle 70s. Partly cloudy on Friday, still can't rule out a stray shower or storm, highs in the lower to middle 90s.
* Weekend: Partly cloudy this weekend with highs in the middle 90s and lows in the lower to middle 70s. The models have hinted at isolated thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday the last few days so I've decided to add a 20 percent chance in my forecast package this morning. The West Texas Fair and Rodeo kicks off this weekend and hopefully we can dodge the isolated rain chance and start the weekend on a dry note.

Rain From Hermaine Continues:
Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
*** Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Haskell, Jones, Runnels, Shackelford, Taylor and Throckmorton County until 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening. ***
*** Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7:00 AM on Thursday for Stephens, Eastland and Comanche County. ***
* Tropical Depression Hermine is currently moving across over Runnels and Coleman County at the time of this blog update and will continue to move northward today. The heaviest rainfall, so far, has set up to the east of the circulation. Overnight the heaviest rainfall has occurred along and west of the U.S. 283 corridor, especially over Brown, Comanche, Coleman, Eastland and Stephens County. As Hermine moves across the Central and Eastern Big Country showers and thunderstorms will remain a possibility today across all of West Central Texas with the best chance of flooding issues due to heavy rain over the eastern and northeastern counties. Occasional showers and thunderstorms will develop today across West Central Texas thanks to abundant moisture. Highs today will remain in the upper 70s and lower 80s due to the clouds and rainfall. Overnight lows tonight will drop into the lower 70s. The rain chances will gradually decrease into tonight.
* The worst impacts would be flash flooding of low lying areas, underpasses and small streams. Remember, at night time, the heaviest rains have a tendency to concentrate towards the center of the tropical system. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
* Late Week/Weekend: We could still see an isolated shower or thunderstorm on Thursday and Friday with moisture left over from Hermine but overall we should begin to dry out with a partly cloudy sky. Sky conditions will become mostly sunny over the weekend Highs climb into the upper 80s Thursday and into the lower 90s by Friday and into the weekend.
* Tropics: For the latest information please visit the National Hurricane Center website by clicking here. The 2010 Atlantic hurricane season will end on November 30th.

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
*** Flash Flood Watch in effect for the Big Country, the Northern Heartland, and the Northern Concho Valley tonight and into Wednesday. ***
* Major rain event moving into the Big Country tonight with the possiblity of Flash Flooding. Heavy rains from the reminants of Tropical Storm Hermine will develop throughout the evening tonight and continue during the day on Wednesday. Expect rain totals on the average of 1-3 inches with some areas possibly seeing 4-8 inches. High today near 84 degrees with a low tonight of 67.
* The Week Ahead: Clouds will decrease late Wednesday and Thursday as the rain pushes out of the area. Partly cloudy conditions will prevail towards the end of the week. Highs will be near 90 degrees with lows around 70. Models are indicating dry weather for the weekend with highs near 92 degrees and lows close to 70.
* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the hot and humid weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours.
