Pleasant Weather To Start The New Week:
Good Morning From Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* As I write this about 20 minutes until 4:00 AM... Abilene Regional Airport sits at 39 degrees which ties the record low for this day of 39 from back in 1997. It is a pretty safe bet this record will fall this morning, as will the temperatures another few degrees...
* Sunny and pleasant weather for all of West Texas today as an area of high pressure sits over the Big Bend region. The weather looks quiet for the week. A cold front will drop southward the next few days but the model runs show this front running out of gas along the Red River and slowly falling apart thanks to the high pressure that will drift across south Texas and keep the front stuck to the north.

Storm Chances This Weekend:
Good Morning From Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* A cold front will move into the area today and bring slightly cooler air to West Central Texas. The front may kick off a few storms that could be strong in our eastern and southeastern counties this afternoon... mainly along a line from Eastland to Santa Anna to Brady and points eastward. Highs will be back into the lower to middle 80s today. Lows tonight will be cooler as well into the middle 50s.
* Quiet weather for most of Saturday with highs in the middle to upper 70s. The front that moves through on Friday will stall in South Texas and lift northward as a warm front and interact with a storm system moving into West Texas and kick off a good chance for thunderstorms Saturday night and into Sunday. The best severe weather threat looks to be centered over the Concho Valley, but the slight risk of severe weather runs roughly along and South of US 180 in the Big Country and south into the heart of West Central Texas.
Today: Partly Cloudy, Breezy & Slightly Cooler.

MORE CHANCES FOR STORMS
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
THE STORMS STAYED AWAY TODAY BUT THEY ARE STILL IN THE FORECAST FOR LATE FRIDAY, LATE SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT THANKS TO TWO COLD FRONTS COMING OUR WAY.
HIGHS TODAY TOUCHED 90 ALL AROUND THE AREA BUT WE SHOULD SEE 10 TO 15 DEGREES COOLER ON FRIDAY THANKS TO A COLD FRONT MOVING THROUGH THE AREA. AS IT DOES SO IN THE AFTERNOON, AREAS MAINLY EAST AND SOUTH OF ABILENE STAND A CHANCE TO SEE SOME THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOP, STORMS WHICH COULD BE SEVERE.
ON THE HEELS OF THE FIRST FRONT IS ANOTHER FRONT LATE SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT. THAT FRONT HAS A BETTER CHANCE OF CAUSING STORMS AND RAIN ACROSS THE KRBC VIEWING AREA. AS ALWAYS THIS TIME OF YEAR, ANY STORM WHICH DEVELOPS MAY BECOME SEVERE.
ONCE THE RAIN MOVES EAST ON SUNDAY, WE SHOULD SEE A DRIER PATTERN WITH SLOWLY WARMING TEMPERATURES EARLY NEXT WEEK. SPEAKING OF TEMPERATURES, DOWNRIGHT COOL FEELING SUNDAY IN THE UPPER 60'S WHICH IS WELL BELOW NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.
TONIGHT: AN ISOLATED STORM, OTHERWISE CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY, LOW OF 62. SOUTH WIND 15 TO 20.
FRIDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY WITH A COLD FRONT ARRIVING. HIGH AROUND 80 WITH A 20% CHANCE FOR AFTERNOON STORMS.
FRIDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY AND COOL, LOW 50'S, AN ISOLATED STORM POSSIBLE.
SATURDAY: MOST OF THE DAY PARTLY CLOUDY AND WARM BUT LATE DAY AND INTO SATURDAY NIGHT LOOK FOR THUNDERSTORMS TO INCREASE AROUND THE AREA. HIGH SATURDAY NEAR 80.
SUNDAY: COOLER WITH MORNING SHOWERS, HIGHS MID TO UPPER 60'S SUNDAY.

Highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s today and lows tonight in the low to middle 60s.
* Another cold front will push across the area on Friday and will help kick off a few thunderstorms. Severe weather threat looks low, with the best chance of severe storms east of our area. Strong to Severe Storms Today & Tonight:
Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* Severe thunderstorms are likely across the Big County, Heartland and Northern Concho Valley today and tonight as both a dryline and an upper level storm system move into West Central Texas. Given the instability and wind shear likely, storms that do develop may quickly reach severe levels. Although all of West Central Texas will see a threat of severe storms, there is an enhanced threat area along and north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line or roughly along and north of US 67. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threat. However, especially in the enhanced threat area, there will be the potential for very large hail perhaps golfball to baseball size and isolated tornadoes as well.
* KRBC Forecast:
Today: Mostly Cloudy with Scattered T-Storms. Some Storms Severe
Highs: 80-83
Wind: SE 15-25
Rain Chance: 40%
Severe Weather Threat: Slight (SPC Outlook)
Tonight: Showers & T-Storms. Some Storms Severe

Slight Risk for Severe T-Storms Wednesday
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ...
TEMPERATURES SOARED ONCE AGAIN TODAY MAKING IT FEEL MORE LIKE SUMMER THAN SPRING. ALL SIGNS STILL POINT TO SOME THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AREA WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MAKES ITS WAY THROUGH FROM THE SOUTHWEST.
I'LL PUT THE RAIN CHANCE AT 40% WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT, BUT THAT'S NOT THE ONLY SHOT AT RAIN IN MY SEVEN DAY FORECAST.
ANOTHER COLD FRONT WILL DROP INTO THE AREA ON FRIDAY AND BY FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY, IT IS EXPECTED TO CAUSE AT LEAST A FEW THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AREA. I'LL LEAVE A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR STORMS IN THE FORECAST ON SUNDAY INTO MONDAY AS WELL.
AS FAR SEVERE WEATHER, THE KRBC VIEWING AREA IS INCLUDED IN A SLIGHT RISK FOR SEVERE STORMS DURING THE DAY WEDNESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY EVENING. IT APPEARS THE NORTHERN BIG COUNTRY, AREAS NORTH OF INTERSTATE 20, STAND THE BEST CHANCE TO SEE MORE STORMS WHICH WOULD MORE LIKELY BECOME SEVERE SO WE'LL WATCH THAT FOR YOU CLOSELY ON WEDNESDAY.
TONIGHT: TURNING CLOUDY WITH AN ISOLATED STORM POSSIBLE BY MORNING, LOW OF 67.
WEDNESDAY: MAINLY CLOUDY WITH A 40% CHANCE FOR STORMS, HIGH NEAR 80. SOME STORMS COULD BE SEVERE.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: CLOUDY, 40% CHANCE FOR STORMS, LOW NEAR 64.
THURSDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY AND WARM, NEAR 90 AGAIN.
SLIGHT CHANCE FOR STORMS FRIDAY WITH A 30% CHANCE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.

One More Warm Day... Rain Chances Return:
Good Tuesday Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* One more warm and humid day across West Central Texas before changes take place. Highs again will approach and exceed 90 in the area today as the dryline mixes into our western counties and humid conditions continue across the rest of the Big County, Heartland, and Concho Valley.
* There is an islolated chance for a storm today and tonight, but the best chance will come on Wednesday as a weak cold front will push southward and give lift to the very moist and humid air across our area to get a few showers and thunderstorms going. The cap is holding decently, but I think the front will give enough lift to get a few storms developing. It will be "cooler" on Wednesday with highs back into the lower 80s.
* Isolated rain chances will continue to at least Saturday with highs remaining in the 80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s and 60s.
Today: Morning Clouds, then Partly Cloudy & Warm, Isolated Storms
Highs: 89-91
Wind: SW/SE 10-15
Rain Chance: 10%
Tonight: Mostly Cloudy with Isolated Thunderstorms
Low: 64-66
Wind: SW 5-15
Rain Chance: 20%
Wednesday: Mostly Cloudy, Scattered Storms, Some Could Be Severe
High: 80-83
Wind: SW 15-20
Rain Chance: 40%
Severe Weather Risk: Slight (SPC Outlook)
Have a great Tuesday...

Nice & Warm To Start The Week...
Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...
* Not much happening in the forecast the next few days other than the heat. Low clouds have developed to our south this morning and will drift north so expect overcast for a while this morning then as we get into the late morning the sky becoming partly cloudy. Although the dryline will be situated across our western counties, the cap should hold so I don't expect any storms. Highs the next two days will be in the lower 90s and overnight lows will be in the lower 60s.
* Rain chances return by mid-week as a couple of disturbances make their way into West Texas. It looks as if Wednesday is the best shot for rain, while the end of the week looks to be only slight chances.

Dry & Slightly Cooler Friday:
Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...
Quiet weather this morning across West Texas as high pressure has built in behind the front that passed through last night. As I write this, temperatures at 5:00 AM are ranging from 37 in Synder to 46 in Brownwood. Dry and cool airmass in place so highs today will be cooler and another cool night in store.
A warming trend will back in store over the weekend with highs climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s into early next week. The dryline will make its way back and forth across the area over the weekend so an isolated storm could pop... but for now I will keep things dry. The next changes of rain (about 20%) come at the middle of the week.
Today: Sunny & Slightly Cooler
High: 75
Wind: NW 5-15
Tonight: Clear & Chilly
Low: 48
Wind: SW 10-15
Saturday: Sunny & Warmer
High: 83
Wind: SW 15-25

The Wind Machine Works Overtime
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
I FEEL YOUR PAIN AND HAVE HAD ALL THE WIND I WANT. HOWEVER, THE PERSISTENT GUSTY WIND WON'T BE GOING AWAY ANYTIME SOON.
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IN THE ROCKIES IS CAUSING OUR WIND TO GUST BUT THE SAME SYSTEM WILL ALSO SEND A COLD FRONT THROUGH THE AREA THURSDAY AFTERNOON WITH, YOU GUESSED IT, EVEN MORE GUSTY WIND, ONLY FROM A NORTHERLY DIRECTION.
CAN THE FRONT CAUSE ANY STORMS? POSSIBLY, BUT A SLIGHT CHANCE IN THE EASTERN AND SOUTHEASTERN COUNTIES OF THE KRBC VIEWING AREA - TOWNS LIKE THROCKMORTON, BRECKENRIDGE, CISCO, EASTLAND, COLEMAN, BROWNWOOD AND COMANCHE MAY SEE AN ISOLATED STORM LATE DAY THURSDAY OR THURSDAY NIGHT.
AFTER THAT, WARM, SUNNY AND DRY WEATHER FOR THE WEEKEND!

MORE WIND THAN THE LAW ALLOWS
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ...
ARE YOU FED UP WITH THE PERSISTENT GUSTY WIND? TWO MORE DAYS OF IT BEFORE IT SHOULD CALM SOME.
AS FORECAST, THE WIND BLEW STRONG TODAY AND WILL DO THE SAME ON WEDNESDAY. A STRENGTHENING LOW PRESSURE AREA IN THE ROCKIES IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INCREASE IN WIND SPEED. THE DOWN SIDE IS THE GUSTY CONDITIONS, THE UP SIDE IS WARM TEMPERATURES WHICH WILL RETURN TOMORROW.
A COLD FRONT WILL ARRIVE DURING THE DAY THURSDAY, LOOKS LIKE MID-DAY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. THE FRONT WILL BRING WITH IT COOLER TEMPERATURES SO INSTEAD OF HIGHS IN THE 80'S, HIGHS CLOSER TO 70 LOOK REASONABLE ON THURSDAY FOLLOWED BY A COOL TEMPERATURE NEAR 40 TOMORROW.
RAIN LOOKS TO BE HARD TO COME BY WHEN THE FRONT ARRIVES BUT IF ANY RAIN DEVELOPS IT WILL ONLY AFFECT OUR EASTERN COUNTIES.
TONIGHT: TURNING PARTLY CLOUDY BY MORNING, LOW 58 WITH SOUTH WIND 10 TO 20.
WEDNESDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY AND WINDY, HIGH 82. SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST WIND 25 TO 35.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: PARTLY CLOUDY AND 61.
THURSDAY: PARTLY CLOUDY, HIGH NEAR 70 OR A LITTLE ABOVE BEFORE THE FRONT ARRIVES.

Turning Warmer and WINDY
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
YOU COULDN'T ASK FOR A NICER DAY THAN WHAT WE HAD TODAY, IF YOU DIDN'T MIND THOSE CHILLY TEMPERATURES THIS MORNING. WE GOT AS COOL AS 38 THIS MORNING IN ABILENE WHILE BROWNWOOD ACTUALLY HIT 30 DEGREES FOR A SHORT TIME AROUND SIX MONDAY MORNING.
THE COOL WEATHER IS BEHIND US, TEMPERATURES ARE SET TO RETURN TO A MORE SEASONABLE SITUATION. I'M LOOKING FOR LOWS TONIGHT TO DROP INTO THE UPPER 40'S BUT HIGHS TOMORROW NEAR 79. WEDNESDAY'S HIGH SHOULD BE AROUND 80.
THE GUSTY WIND IS GOING TO BE OUR BIG STORY THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS IN THE ROCKIES AND OUR SOUTHEAST WIND RESPONDS AND BECOMES GUSTY TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. WITH OUR DRY CONDITIONS PERSISTING, THE FIRE DANGER WILL INCREASE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.
ONLY A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS LATE THURSDAY BUT OUR MOISTURE SUPPLY IS EXPECTED TO BE LIMITED SO THE BETTER CHANCE FOR RAIN STAYS TO OUR EAST.
MONDAY NIGHT: CLEAR AND 49.
TUESDAY: SUNNY AND WINDY, HIGH NEAR 79. SOUTHEAST WIND 20 TO 30 AND GUSTY.
TUESDAY NIGHT: CLEAR AND 58.
WEDNESDAY: SUNNY AND 80 WITH WINDY CONDITIONS.

Weekend Forecast - Breckenridge Tornado Damage Survey
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
I'LL BREAK THIS INTO TWO PARTS - YOUR SHORT WEEKEND FORECAST AND A SUMMARY OF THE TORNADO DAMAGE AT BRECKENRIDGE.
WEEKEND WEATHER WILL BE GREAT - MORNINGS WILL BE COOL, HOWEVER, A FROST IS EVEN POSSIBLE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MORNING BUT AFTERNOON HIGHS WILL BE AROUND 70. IT SHOULD BE SUNNY ALL WEEKEND.
NOW TO THE BRECKENRIDGE TORNADO DAMAGE. AN INVESTIGATIVE TEAM FROM THE FORT WORTH NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPENT THURSDAY LOOK AT THE DAMAGE AND DISCOVERED TWO SEPARATE TORNADO PATHS.
#1 - RATED AN EF 0 ON THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE - WINDS WERE ESTIMATED 80-85MPH. IT DEVELOPED ALONG FM 576 EAST OF THE EOLIAN COMMUNITY, STAYED ON THE GROUND 2.3 MILES AND HAD AN AVERAGE PATH WIDTH OF 75 YARDS.
#2 - RATED AN UPPER END EF 1 WITH WINDS NEAR 110MPH. THE DAMAGE STARTED 1/2 MILES WEST OF U.S. 183 AND SOUTH OF FM 2231. DID LOTS OF DAMAGE ALONG COUNTY ROAD 150, WAS THE TORNADO THAT HIT THE AIRPORT AND DAMAGED MANY HOMES ON AIRPORT ROAD. IT CONTINUED FOR 7.1 MILES BEFORE LIFTING. AVERAGE PATH WIDTH WAS 400 YARDS.

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS LATER TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING... THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW STRONG TORNADOES ALONG WITH VERY LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS LATER TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA A LARGE PART OF CENTRAL AND NORTHERN TEXAS SURROUNDING THE HIGHEST RISK AREA...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM SOUTH TEXAS NORTH AND EAST INTO PARTS OF KANSAS...SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...ARKANSAS AND LOUISIANA.
A VERY STRONG HIGH-LEVEL STORM SYSTEM NOW OVER ARIZONA AND NEVADA...WITH 120 MPH JET STREAM WINDS...WILL SWEEP EAST INTO FAR WEST TEXAS AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO EARLY THURSDAY. AS THIS OCCURS...A SURFACE LOW THAT WILL FORM THIS AFTERNOON OVER EASTERN NEW MEXICO AND MOVE NORTHEAST INTO SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA THURSDAY MORNING. SOUTHEASTERLY SURFACE WINDS ARE ALREADY SPREADING VERY WARM AND HUMID AIR NORTHWARD ACROSS CENTRAL INTO NORTHERN TEXAS. THESE WINDS WILL INCREASE IN STRENGTH AND BREADTH THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY AS THE NEW MEXICO LOW HEADS EASTWARD. THE COMBINATION OF INCREASINGLY WARM AND HUMID AIR NEAR THE SURFACE...WITH THE FAST JET STREAM FLOW ALOFT...WILL CREATE A FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR SUSTAINED ROTATING THUNDERSTORMS CALLED SUPERCELLS FROM CENTRAL TEXAS INTO SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA. SCATTERED STORMS WITH HAIL MAY OCCUR THROUGHOUT THE DAY TODAY ACROSS WESTERN AND NORTHERN TEXAS AND SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA.
MORE SIGNIFICANT STORMS...HOWEVER...LIKELY WILL DEVELOP LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT FROM WEST CENTRAL TEXAS NORTH AND EAST ACROSS THE RED RIVER VALLEY INTO SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA. ESPECIALLY IN CENTRAL AND NORTH TEXAS...THESE STORMS MAY PRODUCE STRONG TORNADOES...IN ADDITION TO VERY LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. THE THREAT FOR TORNADOES...HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS LIKELY WILL CONTINUE OVER PARTS OF TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.
THIS THREAT WILL ALSO EXPAND NORTH AND EAST ACROSS THE OZARKS INTO A LARGE PART OF THE MISSISSIPPI AND LOWER TENNESSEE VALLEYS LATER THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT. THIS IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.

Stay Alert to Severe Weather Threat Through Tonight
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
WE'RE STILL EXPECTING A WIDESPREAD OUTBREAK OF SEVERE WEATHER. THE KRBC WEATHER TEAM IS MONITORING THE SITUATION AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO THROUGH MID-DAY TOMORROW - THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT SHOULD BE THE GREATEST THREAT TIME FOR OUR AREA. BELOW IS A DISCUSSION FROM THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER ..
TORNADO WATCH WILL BE NEEDED SOON FOR PARTS OF SW INTO CENTRAL AND N TX. EARLY AFTERNOON SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWED A WARM FRONT CONTINUING TO SPREAD NWD...AND CURRENTLY EXTENDED ENEWD FROM THE MAF AREA TO THE ERN PART OF THE DAL/FTW METROPLEX INTO SERN OK AND SRN AR. VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATED CLOUDS HAVE CLEARED ALONG AND S OF WRN EXTENT OF THE WARM FRONT.
ADDITIONAL SURFACE HEATING AND INCREASING CONVERGENCE ALONG THIS BOUNDARY PER OBJECTIVE ANALYSES SUGGESTS NEW TSTM DEVELOPMENT WILL BE LIKELY BETWEEN 1:00 PM AND 3:00PM AS SURFACE BASED INHIBITION CONTINUES TO WEAKEN. MODERATE INSTABILITY AND STRONG DEEP LAYER AND LOW LEVEL SHEAR VALUES WILL BE SUPPORTIVE OF TORNADIC SUPERCELLS.

STORMS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
THUNDERSTORMS, SOME POSSIBLY SEVERE, ARE BACK IN THE FORECAST AND COULD START AS EARLY AS WEDNESDAY MORNING ACROSS THE KRBC VIEWING AREA.
WE HAVE SEVERAL FACTORS TO CONSIDER. FIRST IS THE ABUNDANCE OF MOISTURE WHICH WILL RETURN TO THE REGION TONIGHT. THE COLD FRONT WHICH PASSED THROUGH THE AREA TODAY WILL RETURN NORTH AS A WARM FRONT WEDNESDAY, ANOTHER FOCUS FOR STORMS. COMBINE A DRY LINE PUSHING IN FROM THE WEST AND AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE AREA FROM THE WEST AND THE STAGE IS SET FOR POTENTIAL RAPID STORM DEVELOPMENT ANYTIME FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT, PROBABLY SEVERAL ROUNDS OF STORMS BY THE TIME IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE.
THE STORMS WILL POTENTIALLY PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND AND COULD ALSO SPIN UP A TORNADO OR TWO.
RANDY'S FORECAST - LET'S PLAN ON A FEW STORMS TO BE UNDERWAY TOMORROW MORNING FOLLOWED BY A BREAK DURING THE MID-DAY THEN A REKINDLING OF STORMS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT. I DON'T THINK WE'LL SEE THE END OF THE STORMY WEATHER UNTIL MID-DAY THURSDAY. WATCH KRBC FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES AND WARNINGS.
LOW TONIGHT - 53 UNDER CLOUDY SKIES AND STORMS POSSIBLE BY MORNING.
HIGH TOMORROW - 77 WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS, SOME SEVERE.
LOW WEDNESDAY NIGHT 54 WITH THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY, SOME SEVERE.

Forecast:
Good Morning From KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
***See Blog Post Below For Details On Severe Weather Threat Tomorrow***
* A cold front will move through West Texas today and bring slightly cooler air. The front will work on some moisture in place over the eastern areas and may kick off an isolated storm or two.
* The front will lift back north tonight and tomorrow as a warm front and also keep isolated storms in the forecast.
* Tomorrow looks to be an active day with isolated severe storms possible along the warm front as it lifts northward. A dryline will mix to the east late in the afternoon and evening and will help fire strong storms. A cold front will move in later in the evening. The warm, moist airmass and dryline/cold front combo will set the parameters for a severe weather threat from Wednesday into early Thursday.
* Quickcast:
- Today: Partly Cloudy, Breezy, Isolated Storms (East)
High: 77 Wind: SW/N 15-20
- Tonight: Increasing Clouds, Breezy, Isolated Storms
Low: 52 Wind: N 15-20
-Wednesday: Mostly Cloudy, Thunderstorms, Some Severe
High: 78 Wind: Se 10-15

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS/ARKLATEX/OZARKS...
...MUCH OF TX/OK INTO THE ARKLATEX/OZARKS...
POTENTIAL WILL EXIST FOR WIDESPREAD SEVERE STORMS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WEDNESDAY/WEDNESDAY NIGHT. 00Z NAM/GFS/ECMWF AND 21Z SREF GUIDANCE SUGGEST A MID/UPPER TROUGH WILL SHIFT EASTWARD OVER THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES INTO THE SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS DURING THE DAY...TAKING ON A NEUTRAL TO NEGATIVE TILT BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. AT THE SURFACE...CYCLOGENESIS WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS...WITH BOUNDARY LAYER MOISTURE /60S F DEWPOINTS/ RETURNING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD ACROSS TX. STALLING FRONTAL BOUNDARY ACROSS THE ARKLATEX AND NORTH/CENTRAL TX ON DAY 1 IS EXPECTED TO RETREAT NORTHWARD ACROSS NORTH TX DURING THE DAY...AND INTO OK DURING THE EVENING/OVERNIGHT.
THE MOST LIKELY SCENARIO FOR SURFACE BASED RMS/SUPERCELLS DURING THE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING WILL BE ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST/WEST CENTRAL INTO NORTH CENTRAL TX AHEAD OF THE DEVELOPING SURFACE LOW/DRYLINE AND NEAR THE WARM FRONT INTERSECTION. AS THE UPPER TROUGH CONTINUES TO SHIFT EASTWARD...50 KT MID LEVEL SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW ATOP SOUTH-SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS IN THE BOUNDARY LAYER WILL YIELD STRONG VERTICAL SHEAR FOR SUPERCELLS. AMPLE HEATING/INCREASINGLY STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES IN CONJUNCTION WITH 60S F DEWPOINTS ACROSS TX WILL LEAD TO MODERATE TO STRONG INSTABILITY BY AFTERNOON...WITH MLCAPE OF 2000-3000 J/KG. THE SUPERCELLS WILL BE CAPABLE OF VERY LARGE HAIL AND TORNADOES /A FEW POTENTIALLY STRONG/...WITH AN APPRECIABLE SEVERE RISK CONTINUING WELL INTO THE NIGHT. IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER RISKS...A DAMAGING WIND THREAT MAY INCREASE DURING THE LATE EVENING/OVERNIGHT ACROSS NORTH/CENTRAL TX IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE EASTWARD SURGING DRYLINE/PACIFIC FRONT.
FARTHER NORTH ACROSS NORTHWEST TX/WESTERN OK INTO SOUTHERN KS...A LEAD IMPULSE MAY LEAD TO SCATTERED ELEVATED THUNDERSTORMS BY LATE MORNING/AFTERNOON WITHIN THE ELEVATED BAROCLINIC ZONE. A HIGHLY SHEARED ENVIRONMENT AND SUFFICIENT INSTABILITY WOULD RESULT IN AT LEAST SOME LARGE HAIL POTENTIAL. ALTHOUGH POSSIBLY IMPACTED BY ONGOING CONVECTION ACROSS TX...THE WARM FRONT WILL CONTINUE LIFTING NORTHWARD FROM NORTH TX INTO OK DURING THE EVENING/OVERNIGHT. AT LEAST A LARGE HAIL THREAT WILL CONTINUE MUCH OF THE NIGHT ACROSS OK INTO ADJACENT PORTIONS OF KS/MO/AR. HOWEVER...A SURFACED BASED SEVERE THREAT /INCLUDING TORNADOES AND DAMAGING WINDS/ CANNOT BE RULED OUT ACROSS CENTRAL/SOUTHERN OK DURING THE NIGHT.

Consider this your "Heads Up" for the potential for severe weather late Thursday and Thursday night across the Big Country. The Storm Prediction Center has placed all the KRBC viewing area in a Slight Risk for severe storms while from Abilene northeast toward Breckenridge and Throckmorton the risk is greater, in the Moderate category. Damaging hail, high wind and isolated tornadoes will all be possible Thursday and Thursday night. Heavy rain will also fall from many of the storms. Once the storms push east Thursday night, a strong cold front blows through making for windy and cooler weather Friday. Weekend weather, however, still looks nice.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy, highs middle 80's, gusty south wind with a 40% chance of late storms.
Thursday Night: Severe thunderstorms likely areawide, more prominent from Abilene east and south. Low 45.
Friday: Gusty north wind, partly cloudy, middle 60's.
Weekend: Sunny and warm, middle 70's.

CLOUDY WEATHER TONIGHT, GRADUAL WARMING
FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ..
OUR SPRING ROLLER COASTER RIDE CONTINUES IN TERMS OF TEMPERATURE AND IN SPEED OF WEATHER SYSTEMS RAPIDLY COMING AND GOING THROUGH THE AREA.
NEXT ON TAP IS A WARM FRONT WHICH WILL COME FROM THE SOUTH AND THROUGH THE AREA DURING THE DAY THURSDAY. SOME DRIZZLE AND FOG IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT AS THE COOL AIR NEAR THE GROUND IS OVERRUN BY THE WARMER AIR ABOUT A MILE ABOVE THE GROUND. THERE COULD BE AN ISOLATED T-STORM ON WEDNESDAY BUT CHANCES AREN'T THAT GREAT AND FAVOR MAINLY THE NORTHERN BIG COUNTRY.
WE'LL WATCH AN UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM APPROACH FROM THE WEST ON THURSDAY. ONCE AGAIN, AREAS NORTH OF I-20 ARE FAVORTED TO SEE SOME THUNDERSTORMS ALTHOUGH I DON'T THINK WE'LL SEE A LARGE NUMBER OF STORMS ON THURSDAY. ANY THAT DEVELOP, HOWEVER, WILL BE CAPABLE OF BECOMING SEVERE. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THURSDAY NIGHT MAY BE THE BEST CHANCE FOR STORMS AREAWIDE WITH YET ANOTHER COLD FRONT ARRIVING SHORTLY THEREAFTER. WEATHER FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKEND LOOKS WARM AND DRY.
TONIGHT: TURNING CLOUDY, MIDDLE 40'S, DRIZZLE AND FOG POSSIBLE.
WEDNESDAY: A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR ISOLATED STORMS, HIGH NEAR 65 AS SOUTH WINDS GRADUALLY RETURN.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: BECOMING HUMID, LOW NEAR 60.
THURSDAY: A 20% CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS, HIGH 84.
FRIDAY: MOSTLY SUNNY AND 68.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY: SUN AND CLOUDS WITH 78-83 FOR HIGHS.
