Wednesday Evening Update

From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...

We didn't end up seeing much in the way of rain today. Showers and thunderstorms moved through portions of Scurry, Stonewall and Knox counties this morning, but that was it. Windy conditions were the main story today. The entire area had sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 45 mph. Much drier air moved into the region throughout the day due to the dryline making its way across the viewing area. Highs ranged from the low 80s to low 90s.

A cold front is expected to move through the region tomorrow. This will bring cooler temperatures to the area and reinforce the drier air that is already in place. It is because of the dry air that this will be a dry frontal passage. Highs should be in the upper 70s to low 80s with breezy northwest winds.

Friday looks to start off a bit chilly with temperatures in the low to mid 40s. We will warm up nicely though through the day with highs in the mid 70s to 80.

Breezy coniditons are expected to return on Saturday. Other than that it should be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Another cold front looks to move into the area late Sunday. There will be a chance for rain with this front because moisture should have returned to the area. The chance for showers and thunderstorms is 20%. Highs are expected to be in the low to mid 80s with windy conditions.

There is a 20% chance of rain early Monday morning as the front finishes moving through the area. The air behind this cold front looks to be the coldest of the fall season so far. Highs are only expected to reach the mid 60s to 70.

It will be another chilly start on Tuesday with temperatures in the low to mid 40s. Dry conditions are likely with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Have a terrific Tuesday!
