Triple Digit Heat Returns:

* Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* The ridge is centered over New Mexico and will continue to build across Texas the next few days with above average temperatures expected for Abilene and the Big Country. Daytime highs will range between about 98 and 101° the next few afternoons and overnight lows between 73 and 76° overnight. Expect a mostly sunny sky each afternoon and mostly clear conditions overnight.

* The ridge will continue to build eastward this week and into the weekend. By this weekend, the ridge will be set up over the Mississippi River Valley so we should see our daytime highs drop back some into the middle 90s. Model runs this morning are trying to hint at some spotty showers this weekend and early next week since there will be a weakness in the high but confidence on my part is low so I'm not going to include in my forecast package other than a brief mention.
