Good Chance For Rain This Weekend

From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...

We had a hot afternoon with temperatures getting into the low 90s in the Big Country. It also felt muggy with dewpoints back in the mid to upper 60s. There were a few brief showers in Scurry county earlier today, but that has been it as far as rainfall.

We can expect another hot day tomorrow with highs in the low 90s. With the amount of moisture in place that we have, there is a slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm.

Beginning late tomorrow night and through Monday, we can expect showers and thunderstorms across much of the area with the arrival and passing of a cold front. Hurricane Lane in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico will send some tropical moisture in our direction which will only further aid the moisture we have in place. The chance for rain overnight Saturday night into Sunday is 60% with a 30% chance on Monday. There is the potential for some severe storms as well as moderate to heavy rainfall so be careful. The rain will end from north to south through the day on Monday with drier air filtering into the region. Our highs will be in the upper 80s on Sunday and the low 80s on Monday.

We will then dry out and feel more comfortable on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Have a wonderful weekend!
