* An area of showers and thunderstorms over the South Plains and the Northern Permian Basin will move east and northeastward across the Big Country this morning. These storms should exit the region by midday. A few of these storms could be strong with an isolated severe storm not out of the question. A severe thunderstorm watch is out for the northern, northwestern and western counties until midday. Once the storms exit the region, we'll become windy and dry out which will elevate the wildfire danger across the area this afternoon. A Red Flag Warning and a Lake Wind Advisory are in effect this afternoon and into the early evening. Highs today into the lower and middle 70s. Mostly clear and cold tonight with lows in the lower 30s.

* Friday & The Weekend: Cooler weather on Friday with highs into the upper 60s under a mostly sunny sky. Lows Friday night will be warmer into the middle 40s. Partly cloudy, windy and warm for Saturday with highs around and dropping down into the middle 50s for Saturday night. Partly cloudy on Sunday and cooler with highs into the lower 70s. There is a slight chance for rain late Sunday as an upper level system works across the region. The better chance will be Sunday night and into early Monday. Cooler with lows into lower 40s Sunday night.
