Warm & Humid Start To The Week:

Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Warm and humid weather around to start the new week across West Central Texas. Low clouds will develop this morning across parts of the area and will break up later this morning before more clouds develop into the afternoon. There is a lot of low level moisture feeding up across the area. I've included a slight chance for thunderstorms this afternoon across the Big Country based on the morning run of our Futurecast model which is painting some rain chances across the area. Another model is also hinting at some slight rain chances by afternoon. Highs today will climb into the middle 90s with overnight lows tonight dropping into the middle and upper 70s.

* The Week Ahead: Looks like another slight chance for thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon across the Big Country. Otherwise expect a partly cloudy sky daily with highs in the middle 90s with overnight lows in the middle 70s. The good news is a cold front will arrive by the late part of the week bringing in some cooler weather just in time for the Labor Day holiday weekend and also some more rain chances. Highs on Friday and into the weekend drop into the upper 80s and lower 90s with lows in the upper 60s. Rain chances pick up Thursday night and will continue into the holiday weekend.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the hot and humid weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
