A Wet Holiday Weekend Ahead:

Good Afternoon/Evening from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across the Big Country, the Northern Heartland and the Northern Concho Valley tonight as well as over the holiday weekend. Locally heavy rainfall is possible at times so be on the lookout for flash flood. Not much in the way of sunshine around this weekend as the clouds will stay in place thanks the the ample moisture supply and high humidity values. Lows in the upper 60s and the lower 70s. Daytime highs in the lower to middle 80s.

* Next Week: The clouds should begin to thin out some with more sunshine into next week. Rain chances will go down but there will still be a slight chance of an isolated storm. Temperatures will warm back into the lower 90s.

* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the very hot weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
