Rain Very Likely This Holiday Weekend

Good News / Bad News from KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ................

Bad News - rain may interrupt your holiday weekend plans.
Good News - we need all the rain we can get, especially in our typically dry summer months.
Bad News - some of the fireworks displays may be rained out or postponed.
Good News - with wet grass, the chance for fires caused by fireworks, is very low.

Flash Flooding is possible this weekend over the Big Country.
Thanks to remnants from Alex, our area remains in a favorable situation for rain.

As of this morning, Scurry, Mitchell, Coke, Runnels, Coleman and Brown counties are under a Flash Flood Watch through the evening hours, perhaps beyond.

While Abilene and Taylor County wasn't initially included in the watch, that could change, depending on how the rain develops later today.

As you make plans for the Fourth of July weekend, rain is definitely part of your plans, especially Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances decrease to slight Monday and Tuesday.

By the middle of next week, with a readily available supply of Gulf of Mexico moisture, rain is likely to increase once again.

Temperatures this weekend will be around 70 to begin your day and in the low 80's to finish your day this weekend.

Wind this weekend will be light from the southeast, except gusty around showers and thunderstorms.
