Mild Weather Now, Cooler By Weekend:

Good Morning from Meteorologist Chris Whited...

* Clouds should return today across the area ahead of a front that will arrive this evening across West Central Texas. The clouds should hold temperatures down some but still warming into the upper 60s and lower 70s. I don't really expect that much shower activity so I've taken out of my forecast. Having said that there could be a few sprinkles here and there today across the area with the cloud cover. Mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the middle 40s. Expect a breezy southwest wind throughout the day and into the night.

* Partly cloudy, breezy and mild on Thursday as daytime highs climb into the upper 60s. Overnight lows on Thursday night drop back into the middle 40s. On Friday clouds will be on the increase ahead of the next front. Highs climb into the middle 70s with a gusty southwest to west wind. Friday night as the front arrives expect scattered showers and even possible an isolated thunderstorm during the overnight periods and early into the morning on Saturday. Overngiht ows hold into the middle 40s.

* Weekend: A few showers could linger early into the morning on Saturday but clouds should begin to decrease into the day. Temperatures will climb into the lower to middle 60s. Cooler on Saturday night with lows in the middle 30s. Mostly sunny and cooler on Sunday with highs in the middle 50s and very cold Sunday night with lows in the lower 30s.

* Next Week: Weather looks quiet for early next week with mostly sunny conditions. Highs in the lower to middle 50s on Monday and Tuesday. Overnight lows pretty cold with upper 20s and lower 30s across the area. So far no rain chance at least early for next week.

* The Winter Outlook: The Climate Prediction Center indicates a moderate El NiƱo pattern continues to bring West Central Texas a wetter pattern here in the winter months. Increased wintry precipitation is possible depending on temperature trends. Equal chances of above or below normal temperatures remain possible for the area.

* Drought Information: For the latest drought information for the state of Texas please visit the U.S Drought Monitor website by clicking here. The data is updated by the government every Thursday morning around 7:30 AM local time. We're starting to see some light drought conditions returning to the far western counties.
