Thunderstorms Likely Tonight

From KRBC Chief Meteorologist Randy Turner ...

Thunderstorms will likely move through most of the Big Country tonight. It still looks like a late night event, after 10pm and beyond, but over by sunrise.

Stronger storms will be capable of producing large hail, damaging wind in excess of 60mph and even isolated tornadoes.

The severe weather threat is being brought on by a large upper level low which is making its way out of the Southwestern U.S. into the Central Plains.

The turbulence associated with the low is such that severe weather can develop very rapidly.

While most storms will be east of our area by early Friday morning, a few showers may linger in the area.

Also, it is possible that the southern Big Country, from Coleman to Brownwood and points east, will see thunderstorms attempt to re-develop late Friday afternoon as another piece of upper level energy comes out of the main upper level low.

Tis the Spring storm season ... things can get wild in a hurry... so watch KRBC for updates.

The weekend is looking nice ... dry with highs in the mid to upper 70's.
