Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
*** Red Flag Warning in effect from midday and into the early evening for the Big Country, the Northern Heartland and the Northern Concho Valley. Elevated wildfire danger across the region for today. ***
* An upper level low pressure center will track to our north and west today increasing the pressure gradient which will lead to very strong to gusty winds this afternoon across the region. A southwest to west wind between 25-45 miles per hour can be expected from midday and into the afternoon across the region. Areas of blowing dust could lower visibility at times this afternoon. Relative humidity values will drop below 20 percent this afternoon. All of these factors will increase the wildfire danger. Clear this morning but a few clouds will roll in by this afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Partly cloudy tonight and colder with lows in the upper 30s. The winds will decrease heading into the evening and overnight. Partly cloudy conditions will remain in place for the rest of the week with highs in the middle ot upper 60s and pretty cool at night with lows in the upper 30s. Winds will be light.
* Weekend/Next Week: Mostly sunny and nice over the weekend with highs in the upper 60s on Saturday and lower to middle 70s on Sunday. Overnight lows in the lower 40s each night. Clouds will be on the increase on Monday with a chance for showers and thunderstorms as the next system works into the area. Rain chances still around on Tuesday before coming to an end. Temperatures turning a bit cooler with highs in the middle 50s on Monday and lower 60s on Tuesday. Lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.
* Time Change: Don't forget we all have to "spring forward" one hour early Sunday morning at 2:00 AM. It's time once again for us to go back into Daylight Saving Time. Also don't forget to change out the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. It's also a good idea to change the batteries in your NOAA All-Hazards Radio!
