Heads Up for Severe Weather

FROM KRBC CHIEF METEOROLOGIST RANDY TURNER ...

MY BEST ADVICE IS STAY ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT. THE BIG COUNTRY IS PRIMED FOR A ROUND OF SEVERE WEATHER .. PLENTY OF MOIST AIR - APPROACHING DRY LINE - UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE.

THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE NUMEROUS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT AND INTO TUESDAY. SEVERAL WILL LIKELY BECOME SEVERE. LARGE HAIL, HIGH WINDS AND TORNADOES ARE EXPECTED.

THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS UPGRADED OUR AREA TO A MODERATE RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PLAN OF ACTION IN PLACE, SOMEWHERE SAFE TO GO IF / WHEN WARNINGS ARE ISSUED. MAKE SURE YOUR WEATHER RADIOS ARE OPERATIONAL.

STAY TUNED TO KRBC FOR THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION.

TUESDAY SHOULD CONTINUE TO BE A RAINY DAY WITH COOL TEMPERATURES IN THE 50'S. THE WORST OF THE SEVERE WEATHER SHOULD MOVE EAST SOMETIME TONIGHT BUT LINGERING RAIN IS EXPECTED TUESDAY.

RAINFALL MAY BE HEAVY IN PARTS OF THE AREA, SEVERAL INCHES POSSIBLE ESPECIALY EAST AND SOUTH OF ABILENE.
