Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...* The high pressure that has been in control of our weather continues to shift eastward. As the high moves away we're seeing plenty of moisture feeding back up across the area. You may have noticed the clouds built back over the area yesterday and that will be the same case for today. We may even see a spotty shower try to pop up in a spot or two otherwise expect it to just be a warm and dry day with those clouds from time to time. Highs on this Tuesday in the middle 90s and lows tonight into the middle 70s.
* Models are bringing tropical waves across the Gulf of Mexico and into Texas throughout the week. One model brings a wave in and up close to our area brining a slight chance for rain on Thursday and Friday so I've added a 20 percent chance of rain, mainly for areas south of Interstate 20. Otherwise the forecast for the rest of the week will remain partly cloudy with highs in the lower to middle 90s and lows in the middle 70s. We'll continue to keep an eye of things. I should also mention model runs from the National Hurricane Center are bringing a tropical wave that is now around Puerto Rico westward through the Florida Straits and into the eastern Gulf of Mexico by this weekend.
* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the hot and humid weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
