Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...
*** Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Haskell, Jones, Runnels, Shackelford, Taylor and Throckmorton County until 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening. ***
*** Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7:00 AM on Thursday for Stephens, Eastland and Comanche County. ***
* Tropical Depression Hermine is currently moving across over Runnels and Coleman County at the time of this blog update and will continue to move northward today. The heaviest rainfall, so far, has set up to the east of the circulation. Overnight the heaviest rainfall has occurred along and west of the U.S. 283 corridor, especially over Brown, Comanche, Coleman, Eastland and Stephens County. As Hermine moves across the Central and Eastern Big Country showers and thunderstorms will remain a possibility today across all of West Central Texas with the best chance of flooding issues due to heavy rain over the eastern and northeastern counties. Occasional showers and thunderstorms will develop today across West Central Texas thanks to abundant moisture. Highs today will remain in the upper 70s and lower 80s due to the clouds and rainfall. Overnight lows tonight will drop into the lower 70s. The rain chances will gradually decrease into tonight.
* The worst impacts would be flash flooding of low lying areas, underpasses and small streams. Remember, at night time, the heaviest rains have a tendency to concentrate towards the center of the tropical system. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
* Late Week/Weekend: We could still see an isolated shower or thunderstorm on Thursday and Friday with moisture left over from Hermine but overall we should begin to dry out with a partly cloudy sky. Sky conditions will become mostly sunny over the weekend Highs climb into the upper 80s Thursday and into the lower 90s by Friday and into the weekend.
