Good Morning from KRBC Meteorologist Chris Whited...* Areas of clouds left over from thunderstorms last night continues to drift across the Big Country this morning. Expect a partly cloudy day with highs in the upper 90s. I can't rule out a stray shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. The cold front still on track to arrive in the northern counties this evening and into the southern counties by daybreak on Friday morning. Models still indicating a decent chance for showers and thunderstorms along and behind the cold front. Some storms could be strong. Clouds will be on the decrease by midday Friday and into the afternoon. Cooler with highs only in the middle 80s on Friday.
* Weekend: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s on Saturday with overnight lows in the lower to middle 60s. We'll warm up a bit on Sunday into the low 90s but still nice across the area.
* Next Week: Pleasant weather for Labor Day and into the first half of next week with highs in the lower 90s and lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Clouds should return by Tuesday and Wednesday and the long range models are hinting at some slight rain chances for the middle of next week.
* Hot Weather Safety: Medical experts remind everyone to be extremely careful when outside in the hot and humid weather. Some safety tips recommended include drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks in a cool spot. Also be sure to check on the elderly and your pets. You should also wear light colored clothing and don't forget to apply the sunscreen regularly. If you can you should up off your outdoor activities until early in the morning and into the evening to avoid the peak heating hours. An average of 175 Americans succumb to hot weather during the summer months across the country.
