We had another beautiful day across the Big Country. It was very warm though as highs were in the 80s, which is well above average for this time of year.
The upper level high pressure ridge will remain in the area tomorrow. This is going to cause us to have a hot afternoon as highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to around 90. The record high for tomorrow at Abilene Regional Airport is 88 set in 1988, so it is in danger of being tied and possibly broken. Winds look to be breezy from the southwest at 10 to 20 mph. There will be an elevated fire danger because of this as well as the very warm temperatures and low relative humidity values so please be careful.
A cold front will arrive on Friday. Cooler temperatures should return with highs in the low 70s. No rain is expected with the front due to a lack of moisture so Friday night football games should be dry.
Temperatures look to remain at or slightly above average for this time of year this weekend and the first half of next week. Highs Saturday through Wednesday should range from the upper 60s to mid 70s. A couple of cold fronts should move into the region during this time period. Rain is not expected with these fronts either due to a lack of moisture.

A Warm Wednesday!
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly….
We are getting close to record temperatures today and tomorrow! With a nice ridge sitting over us along with a High pressure system sun and warmth has dominated. We had a beautiful day yesterday although in Abilene we only reached 79 it still felt warm. Today we will warm up even more reaching highs in the mid 80’s. That sunshine should persist throughout most of the day. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 50’s making it very mild evening throughout the coldest time of the night. If you remember only a week ago today we only reached mid 50’s for the highs, a big change in only 7 days! Tomorrow will again be a warm one with temperatures sticking into the mid 80’s could even be a few degrees warmer than today.
Friday we will begin to cool things down in the upper 70’s for highs and overnight lows reaching into the 40’s. This is because of our next cold front that will be passing through. The front will help us to get our temperatures back to around average and it looks like Saturday through Monday that will be the case with highs in the mid to upper 60’s. Overnight lows will stay brisk, into the mid 40’s.
We will be able to bring in some clouds Friday but right now rain chances looking slim to none in the next seven days.

Tuesday Night Update

We started off chilly this morning with temperatures in the low to mid 40s. It ended up being a beautiful and warm afternoon with highs in the mid 70s to 80.
An upper level high pressure ridge will continue to influence the area over the next couple of days. Skies look to remain mostly sunny with highs in the mid 80s, which is well above average for this time of year.
A cold front is expected to arrive in the area on Friday. Due to a lack of moisture, the chance for rain is less than slight. Skies should become partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 70s.

No excuses for not getting out to the polls today! We will have beautiful weather with plenty of sunshine, light winds and temperatures almost ten degrees above average reaching into the upper 70’s. This is all in part to a High pressure ridge that will stick around for the next few days. Tonight we will stay mild even into the over night only reaching mid 50’s for lows.
Tomorrow and Thursday things will again be amazing reaching the mid 80’s for highs! This will probably be the last time summer will return so get out and enjoy this last bit of comfort and play a round of golf! Overnight lows both days will get down to upper 50’s. Friday we will begin to cool a few degrees but highs should be similar to today with upper 70’s and lower 50’s for lows.
Our next cold front will push through sometime later Friday into Saturday and will push our temperatures back into the mid 60’s for highs. However, it will still be pleasant for all the football games. We could even see another upper 40 for our low. Sunday and Monday we should be getting back again to just around 70. No rain in the forecast for the next 7 days.

Monday Night Update

Clearing up and Warming up

Mostly Cloudy conditions have dominated through most of the evening. A few showers and thunderstorms have popped up, though the bulk of the activity has stayed off to our East running from Dallas into Arkansas. Temperatures have stayed mild staying in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s throughout the evening.
This morning we could see a shower mainly in our Eastern counties as the system moves off however things will begin to clear up from West to East and by this afternoon and evening we should see partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. With that temperatures showed warm up nicely reaching the lower 70’s for highs. Overnight we should cool down a bit because of mostly clear skies dipping into the upper 40’s for lows.
Tomorrow will be a nice change after our Mostly Cloudy weekend. We will warm into the upper 70’s with lows reaching into the lower 50’s. We will stay warm again Wednesday and Thursday with highs in lower 80’s and mid 50’s for lows. Friday our next cold front will arrive again cooling us back down to 60’s for highs.

Mostly cloudy skies dominated the area today keeping temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s for highs. There has been some off and on showers and thunderstorms over portions of the Big Country throughout the day. The heaviest of the activity has been over Throckmorton and Stephens counties.
The chance for more showers and thunderstorms will continue tonight and into the morning hours tomorrow. A low pressure system and its assoicated cold and warm fronts will clear the region during the day on Monday. This means rain will end and clouds will break from west to east. Highs should reach the low 70s.
An upper level high pressure ridge will move over the region during the middle of the week. This will push highs into the upper 70s to around 80 for Tuesday through Friday. Dry conditions are expected during this time period.
A cold front looks to arrive late Friday, but the chance for rain looks less than slight. Highs for next weekend should cool down back into the mid to upper 60s.

Saturday Night Update

It has been a great day to grab a book and stay inside! We have seen Mostly Cloudy skies throughout the day with a little sunshine breaking through in the Western counties. We will continue to see the clouds throughout the next few days. Tonight we could see some drizzle and maybe a stray shower but the bulk of the rain will be coming in tomorrow night into Monday. Temperatures overnight will get into the upper 50’s with some winds out of the South. Tomorrow we should see temperatures just around 70.
Sunday night into Monday is when the best chance of rain will be. Showers could be heavy at times. Temperatures will be about the same- just around 70 for highs and lows in the lower 50’s. Tuesday things should clear up as well as warm up. For the rest of the week we should see Temperatures make it into the upper 70’s with lows in the Mid 50’s.
Our next cold front could arrive around Friday night, which would again cool us down. Although we should be above normal for most of the week, the front could bring us back down to average for this time of year.

We could see some lingering precipitation on Tuesday. Highs Saturday through Tuesday should be in the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly cloudy skies.
Wednesday and Thursday look to be dry with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid 70s.

Thursday Night Update

We had our first freeze of the season across most of the Big Country last night as temperatures bottomed out in the low 30s. The southern portions of the viewing area had lows in the mid to upper 30s due to some lingering cloud cover. Despite the cold start, we warmed things up quite a bit in the afternoon due to mostly sunny skies. Highs were in the mid to upper 50s with Brownwood reaching 61.
It will not be as cold tonight with mostly cloudy skies developing across the area and winds from the southeast. Lows should be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
The mostly cloudy skies look to remain in the Big Country on Friday. This will keep temperatures cool, but highs should still manage to reach the low to mid 60s thanks to south-southeasterly winds. If you are heading out to a football game tomorrow night, you'll probably want to take a jacket with you to the game because it will be cool out there.

The heater was needed yesterday and overnight! It was a chilly one, and temperatures this morning will be the coldest this week with another surge of Canadian air invading. This surge is also brining with it some drier air which has pushed some of the cloud cover we had yesterday away. However, we will still see some scattered clouds throughout the day because of some upper level moisture. Temperatures should stick mostly into the upper 50’s for highs today, even cooler where there will be cloud cover, mainly into the Southern counties. Overnight lows could again dip into the upper 30’s otherwise lower 40’s. Tonight our winds will switch to the Southeast, this will help us bring in some more moisture and allow for Mostly Cloudy skies overnight.
Tomorrow we should see widespread cloud cover with rain chances to begin into the overnight. We should warm up into the lower 60’s for highs with lows in the lower 50’s. Throughout the weekend moisture is in place and could make for a wet weekend. Sunday through Tuesday look to be the best chance. This will be because a developing low over Montana could potentially come down and push right through our region. Highs through the weekend and into beginning of next week could reach mid to upper 60’s with lows in the mid 50’s, getting back towards average for this time of year.

Cool temperatures remained in the area thanks in part to the overcast skies that spread across the region today. Highs were only in the 50s.
It looks like tonight will be the coldest night we have had so far this season. Unlike last night, we do not have clouds already in or about to move into the area. Lows will be in the low to mid 30s. In fact, I am forecasting a low of 32 in Abilene, which will be the first freeze of the season. Since most of the Big Country did not reach these temperatures last night, there is a Freeze Warning for Knox and Scurry counties. A Frost Advisory has been issued for Haskell, Throckmorton, Fisher, Jones, Shackelford, Nolan, Taylor, Callahan, Coke, Runnels, Coleman, and Brown counties. This means you need to bring in or protect any plants that are outside.

Cool Forecast
Good Morning from Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly....
Halloween brought one thing for sure- some very cool temperatures. We made it up to a high of 65 yesterday but that was just after midnight. The cold front that passed through yesterday morning drove temperatures and was a shock from the 80’s we had experienced just the day before. For Today we are going to bring in some clouds associated with shortwave moving across our area trying to bring some moisture in from the South. This could result in an isolated shower across the southern counties. This will also help pull in a High pressure system that will dominate for a few days. For the most part we will continue our North winds making us only reach upper 50’s for highs. Overnight we will once again see the coldest temperature we have seen yet this season with lows in the mid 30’s with some brisk winds.
Thursday we are looking to see drier condition that what had previously been forecasted. The best chance of rain will once again stay mostly to our South with not enough moisture in our area though we should see cloud cover to really begin into the evening hours. Temperatures will still stay chilly with highs in the upper 50’s and lows getting back into the lower 40’s.
Rain chances are back on for the weekend with temperatures climbing back to around average this time of year. Still a little chiller with highs in the low 60’s Friday and Saturday and lows just around 50. By Sunday and Monday we should highs around 70 and lows around lower 50’s.

This could result in an isolated shower across the southern counties. This will also help pull in a High pressure system that will dominate for a few days. For the most part we will continue our North winds making us only reach upper 50’s for highs. Overnight we will once again see the coldest temperature we have seen yet this season with lows in the mid 30’s with some brisk winds.
Thursday we are looking to see drier condition that what had previously been forecasted. The best chance of rain will once again stay mostly to our South with not enough moisture in our area though we should see cloud cover to really begin into the evening hours. Temperatures will still stay chilly with highs in the upper 50’s and lows getting back into the lower 40’s.
Rain chances are back on for the weekend with temperatures climbing back to around average this time of year. Still a little chiller with highs in the low 60’s Friday and Saturday and lows just around 50. By Sunday and Monday we should highs around 70 and lows around lower 50’s.

Tuesday Night Update

The cold front we were expecting moved into through the area this morning. Temperatures were much cooler today with many communities not getting out of the 50s during the day. Breezy conditions accompanied the front as well.
Tonight could be the coldest night we have had so far this season. Lows look to be in the low to mid 30s. There is a freeze warning for Knox and Stonewall counties tonight, while Haskell, Throckmorton, Fisher, Jones, Shackelford, Nolan, Taylor, and Callahan counties are under a Frost Advisory. This means you should definitely bring in or protect any plants that are outdoors. There is one factor that could keep our lows a little warmer and that is some clouds that are moving in from the west.
Cool, below average temperatures should remain for the rest of the work week. Highs for Wednesday through Friday look to be in the mid to upper 50s. Part of the reason we will stay cool is due to a situation we call overrunning. Warm air looks to ride over the colder air at the surface for the next few days. In these situations, we typically see lots of cloud cover, cool temperatures, and a chance for precipitation. Here in the Big Country we will definitely have mostly cloudy skies. We could see some drizzle and light rain tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. The chance of rain is slight to 20%. The good thing is there will be plenty of sunshine throughout the day and it will be dry for the trick or treaters. We will still have some winds throughout the day gusting around 10-20 mph but they will begin to cool down by evening just in time for all the kids to get out and get some candy. Temperatures by the time they will be going out trick or treating should be in the upper 50’s so make sure you grab a jacket. Overnight we will be chilly reaching the upper 30’s for most of the Big Country. Some Counties to the South will stay a little warmer only in the lower 40’s because they won’t get as much cold air from the front passing later in the day.

Changes begin tomorrow as a cold front will move through the area tomorrow morning. This will give us much cooler conditions with highs in the low to mid 60s. Similar conditions to what we experienced today will be around for tomorrow. We should have partly cloudy skies with highs in the low 80s. Winds look to be from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts expected. Most of the viewing area is under a Lake Wind Advisory and Fire Weather Watch tomorrow. The counties not under this advisory and watch at this time are Knox, Stonewall, Scurry, Mitchell, Stephens, Eastland, and Comanche. With the fire danger high tomorrow, please be very careful.

Halloween maybe chilly!

A High pressure system has brought us beautiful skies today and lighter winds which have kept temperatures into the mid 70’s today. Overnight we will again see clear skies, light winds and lower dew points, which will allow us to have cooler temperatures. We won’t get as chilly as Friday night but could see some upper 40’s across the Big Country. Tomorrow we will warm things up a bit reaching to just around 80. Overnight lows will stay mild in the upper 50’s. It would be a great day to get out and do your favorite outdoor activity before the weekend ends!
Clouds will roll in Monday from an upper level disturbance with Temperatures in the upper 70’s and lows in lower 50’s. Halloween looks to bring in our next cold front cooling things off a bit. A Beautiful Weekend On Tap For Us

We had much cooler temperatures today thanks to a cold front that passed through the area late yesterday. Highs were in the mid 60s to low 70s. Windy conditions continued across the Big Country with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts near 40 mph.
Winds are expected to calm down through the night, but remain from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. With light winds, clear skies, and a dry airmass in place, we should see good radiational cooling. Lows will be in the low 40s with a few isolated low-lying areas possibly bottoming out in the upper 30s.
With high pressure in control over the area this weekend, it should be a beautiful one. Highs should be in the mid 70s to around 80 thanks to mostly sunny skies and winds from the west-southwest.
An upper level disturbance may move through the area on Monday. No rain is expected, but we should see more cloud cover. Highs are expected to be in the upper 70s.

We will see Sunny skies and into the overnight a starry night with lows in the mid 40’s.
The weekend is looking gorgeous with highs Saturday reaching just around Normal into the mid 70’s, with lighter winds and Sunny skies. Sunday we should continue to warm a few degrees with similar conditions. Through out the next week temperatures should continue into the 70’s with lows in the 50’s. Thursday Night Update

The warm and breezy conditions continued across much of the Big Country today. Changes are already taking place this evening as a cold front passes through the area. Drier air has moved in as dewpoints have dropped from the 60s this morning to the 20s and 30s this evening.
Cooler temperatures are expected tonight as lows should dip into the mid to upper 40s. It should be windy with winds from the northwest at 15 to 25 mph.
Tomorrow will be much cooler than today with highs in the mid to upper 60s. With our area being caught between a strong low pressure system to the east and a high pressure close by to the northwest, windy conditions will remain tomorrow. Our winds will be 20 to 30 mph from the north-northwest. If you are going to be driving in a high profile vehicle, be careful on the highways.
Warmer temperatures return for the weekend with highs returning back to and a little above average for this time of year. Highs look to be in the low to mid 70s. Don't forget that Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning at 2 a.m., so set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.

This morning a dryline will be driving through pushing the moisture that has been in place and replacing it with a very dry airmass. This will help us once again today to see warm temperatures reaching again into the high 70’s to lower 80’s with plenty of sunshine. The biggest problem today is that we could have some gusty winds, although not as strong as was forecasted yesterday there is still a High Wind Warning for Stonewall County which means they could see gusts up to 60 mph with sustained winds of 30-40 mph. Across the rest of the Big Country we could see winds from 15-30 mph sustained with gusts up to 35 mph.

Wednesday Morning Update

Yesterday was a welcoming day for most of us with intermittent showers through out the day and into the evening hours. The rest of the day was clouded with cover making us only reach a high of 63 in Abilene. This morning we will continue to see showers as the moisture from Tropical Storm Paul and the Gulf is readily available. However the clouds should roll out by lunch hour allowing us only a lingering shower into the afternoon with clearing skies. This being said temperatures will vary from when the cloud cover clears. Right now we have a high wind watch in effect for much of the viewing area including Knox, Stonewall, Haskell, Throckmorton, Fisher, Jones, Shackelford, Nolan, Taylor, and Callahan counties. There is a potential for sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph and gusts as highs as 50 to 60 mph from noon to about 7 p.m. on Thursday. This is because we may have a strong Low pressure system move through as well as a very deep jet stream right over the Big Country, along with a very dry air mass. We will keep you posted with any updates to this adivisory. For now a cold should push through sometime in the afternoon to evening hours allowing temperatures to reach the upper 70’s before we hit the mid 40’s for lows after it passes.
Winds should lighten up Friday with Temeprarutures around the lower 70’s with again cooler temeperatures in the 40’s overnight. Saturday through Sunday we are looking at mid to lower 70’s for highs with lows in the lower 50’s and Mostly Sunny skies. So far trick or treating looking dry!

Yesterday was a welcoming day for most of us with intermittent showers through out the day and into the evening hours. The rest of the day was clouded with cover making us only reach a high of 63 in Abilene. This morning we will continue to see showers as the moisture from Tropical Storm Paul and the Gulf is readily available. However the clouds should roll out by lunch hour allowing us only a lingering shower into the afternoon with clearing skies. This being said temperatures will vary from when the cloud cover clears. Tuesday Night Update

Cloudy skies throughout the day and rainfall this afternoon and evening have kept temperatures cooler today. Highs were in the low 60s across much of the viewing area.
Scattered showers and possibly a few thunderstorms will be off and on through the overnight hours and early tomorrow. The rain will end and the skies will begin clearing from west to east through the day on Wednesday. This means we will see a range of high temperatures across the Big Country. In the western portions of the area, highs should be in the upper 70s while in the east highs will likely be in the low 70s. If the clouds hold strong and there are no breaks in them, then we could be cooler than the expected highs. Breezy conditions should continue throughout the day Wednesday.
A cold front is expected to move through the area early on Thursday. This will bring us cooler temperatures with highs in the upper 60s. This front is part of a strong low pressure system that should remain to our north. Very strong winds are possible Thursday afternoon and early evening. Tuesday Morning Update
After waking up to chilly temperatures the past few days, 50’s will seem warm! This morning we should see increasing clouds with temperatures in the lower 50’s. The best chance of rain today will be towards the afternoon to evening as temperatures increase to the 60’s by noon and into the lower 70’s for highs around the 5 o clock hour. With lots of moisture from the gulf and also from Hurricane Paul, an upper level low and a few disturbances rain chances will be expected today through tonight and into tomorrow morning. Over night we should see temperatures drop to the upper 50’s to lower 60’s with some gusty winds from the South.
Tomorrow the rain chances will continue through the morning with temperatures in the lower 60’s. Through the afternoon conditions should clear up to partly cloudy with highs into the mid 70’s with winds from SW around 15-20 mph and gusts up to 25mph. Our next cold front should push through sometime tomorrow evening into Thursday although it will not drive temperatures like we have seen with the last cold fronts. The biggest difference will be lows in the mid 40’s Thursday evening with highs Thursday into the lower 70’s with lots of wind!
Through the rest of the week temperatures should stay in the mid 70’s with lows in the lower 50’s with Sunny skies.

It was another cold start to the day this morning with temperatures in the mid to upper 30s. We did warm up quite nicely this afternoon with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Rain will be possible tomorrow and Wednesday. Moisture is returning into the area. At the surface, it is from the Gulf of Mexico. In the mid and upper levels it is from the Pacific Ocean. Some of this moisture from the Pacific will be tropical in nature thanks to Hurricane Paul. It is expected to make landfall in Mexico on Wednesday. The moisture is all that we should experience from it. An upper level low to our west in southern California that is helping push moisture into the area will also send some disturbances our way bringing us the chance for precipiation. The best shot at rain will be Tuesday night. For the next couple of days we can expect mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low 70s. Wednesday they should reach the mid to upper 70s.

Chance For Rain This Week

We started off cold this morning with temperatures in the mid to upper 30s. Overall, it was a cool and crisp day as highs were in the mid 50s to low 60s.
Expect the cold overnight lows to continue tonight as we bottom out in the mid 30s. Frost is possible overnight so there is a Frost Advisory in effect for most of the area from 1 a.m until 9 a.m. Monday morning. The counties not under this advisory are Knox, Stonewall, Stephens, Eastland, Comanche, Scurry, and Mitchell. If you have any sensitive plants, they should be brought inside or covered for the night otherwise they could die. You will want to bring in the pets too since it will be cold.
Warmer temperatures return tomorrow afternoon thanks to sunny skies and winds from the south. Highs look to be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Rain will be possible Tuesday and Wednesday. The high pressure that has been in control of the area today will slide to the east allowing for moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to return at the surface. We will also get moisture in the mid and upper levels of the atmosphere. A trough looks to set up west of us with an upper level low in southern California. This will push Pacific Ocean moisture our way. Most of this may be tropical in nature since Tropical Storm Paul will be around the Baja region of Mexico on Tuesday. The upper level low to our west should send a few disturbances our way and likely cause some showers and thunderstorms. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday should be in the upper 60s to low 70s.
A cold front should move through late Wednesday into early Thursday helping to dry us out and keep high temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s Thursday and Friday.

Saturday Night Update

Temperatures stayed relatively warm today with the approaching cold front passing a little later than expected. We have stayed with lower 70’s across most the region and Sunny skies. Some more clouds should be rolling in but nothing extensive. We should see the winds continue to blow between 10-20 mph from the North and overnight temperatures are going to get chilly with the clear skies. We will see plenty of cooling tonight which will allow us to dip into the upper 30’s in some places with the rest of us staying in the lower 40’s.
Tomorrow we should warm up into the 60’s for highs with Mostly Sunny skies. In the Sun it will feel a bit warmer but we are still going to be about 10 degrees below average for this time of year. Overnight will again be chilly with lows in the mid 40’s. In the middle of the work week we are going to see our next chance of rain Tuesday into Wednesday with available moisture and a disturbance moving in. Temperatures should stay below average for the most part next week with high in the lower 70’s and mid 50’s for lows.

Cooler Weekend

It was a gorgeous Friday, with Sunny skies and temperatures making it into the 70’s. We did have a little wind with some gusts as high as 30mph. We are going to stay with beautiful weather through the evening with lows making it down to the mid 50’s and with a starry night and clear skies. The winds will die down just a bit making it even more pleasant especially for all the football games.
Tomorrow we will be bringing in the next cold front arriving at the Big Country some time around early afternoon. This will mean we should reach our warmest temperatures of the day before the afternoon. With the cold front passing we should only make it to highs in the 60’s tomorrow with lows dipping into the lower 40’s. Cloud cover will increase as the front passes and should stick around through the night. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday should stay in the upper 60’s to lower 70’s with lows getting back into the 50’s by the beginning of the work week. We should see Partly Cloudy skies all three days.

Thursday Night Update

When you headed to work this morning overcast skies were dominating with even some light rain. Temperatures were chilly only in the 40’s. However around 10 am we started to clear out and the rest of the day has warmed up nicely reaching the 60’s in most places, with a few upper 50’s. The sun has been shining brightly and it looks like it is going to continue to do that for at least the next two days. Tomorrow we should warm back up to slightly below average with temperatures staying in the low to mid 70’s. For all the football fans out there it looks like you are in for some good weather, you may need a blanket but temperatures should only cool down to the 50’s Friday night with light winds.
Out next Cold front will push through some time on Saturday. Depending on the exact time will depend on how much we can warm up to Saturday. Right now we are looking at highs in the low 70’s. A chilly Wednesday!
It feels like October is here outside. Temperatures have stayed chilly today because the cold front passed through the Big Country a little earlier than anticipated, making its way to Abilene just before noon. It brought with us lots of low clouds making it overcast across the Big Country. We even were recording mist at the Abilene Regional Airport in the afternoon. We will continue with a twenty percent chance of showers through the evening with a little moisture making it possible for an isolated shower. Temperatures will drop down to the mid 40’s overnight with winds from the North; you will definitely need a jacket if you will be stepping outdoors.
Tomorrow we are going to continue to be chilly only making it again in the 60’s for highs. However the cloud cover should roll out of here through the morning hours making it mostly sunny by the afternoon, so it may feel a little warmer. By Friday and Saturday we should make it to highs in the 70’s but Saturday we will again see the next cold front roll through brining that overnight low back down to the 40’s.

Summer joined us again today, with highs reaching into the 80’s and very sunny skies. I hope you got out to enjoy it because fall is again coming back tomorrow with the next cold front coming through.
Tonight we will stick with the mild overnight temperatures only reaching into the 50’s across the big country with another starry night. Tomorrow we will begin to feel the cool down with highs across the Big Country only making it into the 70’s. Tomorrow night we will see the biggest change with our lows dropping down in to the 40’s. Thursday we will only make it into the 60’s for highs and even chiller lows still in the 40’s. Because of the limited moisture around our area does not look good for the rain chances. The best chance would be towards the hill country.
After the front passes through we will begin to warm things up a bit getting back into the 70’s Friday into Saturday but that won’t last long because the second cold front will push through Saturday brining those lows again back to the 40’s and highs into the beginning of the work week back to the 60’s.

Monday Update!

It was a soggy weekend across the Big Country, some areas evening receiving near 5 inches of rain throughout the weekend! Here in Abilene we stayed around an inch. Now that the rain has pushed through and the work week is looking pretty dry. Overnight we will still have some clouds lingering and should reach the upper 50’s for lows. Tomorrow we are going to warm up very nicely, with Mostly Sunny skies and highs into the mid 80’s, a great day to get out for a game of golf or tennis, though the winds may be gusty at times.
Our temperatures will be cooling down into Wednesday as our next cold front is approaching we should reach highs into the upper 70’s and lows dipping into the 40’s for overnight. There will be a slight chance for rain in our southeastern counties but not much around Abilene because of the limited moisture. Temperatures Thursday will stay chilly will highs only into the 60’s and lows in the 40’s.
The weekend is looking dry even though we will see another cold front approaching. Temperatures will stay below average with highs in the lower 70’s to upper 60’s and lows just around 50.

Wet Weekend Ahead!
Good morning from your Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly….
After an overcast morning to sunny afternoon we still reached temperatures into the 60's during the day even after the cold front passed, an almost 20 degree drop from highs the day before. The front was very distinctive and you could see the rolling clouds as it passed over. Overnight temperatures were the coldest we have seen this season mostly reaching into the 40's, a bit of a chill when you walk outside.
Temperatures going to warm up nicely today mainly reaching into the lower 70's across the big country. We will have partly cloudy skies and light winds. It will be a perfect night to get out and watch your favorite football team! We may see a shower or two after midnight with temperatures reaching from upper 50's to lower 60's.
This weekend you may want to pull out that best seller novel because it is not looking like a great one for your outdoor activities. It is going to be a rainy one, with lots of tropical moisture from the gulf and the pacific, a low pressure system and a few disturbances rain chances are around 50 % through out the whole weekend. Rain could be heavy at times, even causing flooding so please be careful if you will be out driving. Sunday looks like the best chance for thunderstorms. Temperatures will stick in the 70's for highs and 60's for lows not much of a temperature change between day and night because of the cloud cover we will have.
We will continue the rain chances through the beginning of the week with our next front pushing through wednesday. Temperatures will stick around lower 80's for highs and around 60 for lows. After an overcast morning to sunny afternoon we still reached temperatures into the 60's during the day even after the cold front passed, an almost 20 degree drop from highs the day before. The front was very distinctive and you could see the rolling clouds as it passed over. Overnight temperatures were the coldest we have seen this season mostly reaching into the 40's, a bit of a chill when you walk outside.
Temperatures going to warm up nicely today mainly reaching into the lower 70's across the big country. We will have partly cloudy skies and light winds. It will be a perfect night to get out and watch your favorite football team! We may see a shower or two after midnight with temperatures reaching from upper 50's to lower 60's.
This weekend you may want to pull out that best seller novel because it is not looking like a great one for your outdoor activities. It is going to be a rainy one, with lots of tropical moisture from the gulf and the pacific, a low pressure system and a few disturbances rain chances are around 50 % through out the whole weekend. Rain could be heavy at times, even causing flooding so please be careful if you will be out driving. Sunday looks like the best chance for thunderstorms. Temperatures will stick in the 70's for highs and 60's for lows not much of a temperature change between day and night because of the cloud cover we will have.
We will continue the rain chances through the beginning of the week with our next front pushing through wednesday. Temperatures will stick around lower 80's for highs and around 60 for lows. Thursday Night Update

It was much cooler today thanks to a cold front that moved through the Big Country. Highs today ranged from the upper 50s in the northern communities to the low 70s in the southern communties. Breezy conditions were experienced along and behind the front.
Tonight we may see our coldest temperatures since late March. Lows look to be in the low to mid 40s under mostly clear skies.
Partly cloudy skies will likely return on Friday. Below average temperatures should continue with highs in the low 70s.
Beginning overnight Friday night and through Monday, there is a 40% to 60% chance of rain. The best shot will be Saturday night and into Sunday. There are several reasons why we will likely see some precipitation. First, the cold front that moved through the Big Country today will stall to our south and eventually lift back to the north as a warm front this weekend. Second, an upper level low to our west will send some disturbances in our direction. Combine these factors with plenty of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico at the surface and the Pacific Ocean in the mid and upper levels of the atmostphere and you have the major ingredients needed for rain. The moisture from the Pacific will likely be tropical in nature due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Olivia. This means there is a potential for heavy rain at times on Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the 70s this weekend and Monday.
There should be a break from the rain on Tuesday with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 80s.

Summer returned for us yesterday reaching highs into the 80’s with mostly sunny skies. You may not need that winter jacket today but probably at least a sweater or sweatshirt! Fall will be knocking at our door today when we only get into the 60’s in most areas. A strong cold front bringing the cool Canadian air has dominated over half of the country even bringing snow and wind chills in the teens to Wisconsin and my old stomping grounds Michigan. The front is a little slower than originally forecasted but will still make it through our Northern counties through the morning and through our southern counties into the early afternoon. The cold front will cross through Abilene around 10 am and through Comanche around 1pm. The Southern counties could even make it into the 70’s before it passes them bringing there temperatures back into the 60’s. With a little extra moisture in the area they have a slight chance for a shower today.We will make it into the 60’s today and getting down to the 40’s overnight in most areas. With the cooler wind from the North blowing at up to 20 mph in some places it could feel a bit chilly even in the afternoon sun. We will have partly cloudy skies with no rain chances for the next two days.
Tomorrow will warm up a little more with Partly Cloudy skies making it into the upper 60’s to lower 70’s for highs with overnight lows in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s.

Wednesday Night Update

It was a beautiful day here in the Big Country. Warm temperatures returned with highs in the 80s this afternoon. It was a little breezy with winds from the west-southwest.
Much cooler temperatures are on tap for us tomorrow as a cold front moves through the area early in the day. Skies should be partly cloudy and there is a slight chance of an isolated shower with the passage of the front. Highs will likely be in the low to mid 60s. Lows tomorrow night look to be in the low 40s.

After a Soggy beginning yesterday morning we will start out with mostly clear skies this morning although it is chilly outside with temperatures in the 50’s. We are going to warm up very nicely and today should be the warmest day we have seen all week with most of the Big Country reaching into the lower 80’s with Mostly Sunny Skies. Tonight the strongest cold front of the season temperature wise will push through bringing with it some chilly Canadian air and could also bring with it a 20 degree temperature difference in highs from today into tomorrow. Highs could only remain in the 50’s in some places and dip into the 60’s in others. With Gusty winds, it is going to feel chilly outside! We should see some more clouds tomorrow and a slight chance for some rain showers, mainly to the south. Bring out the gloves and hat for Thursday night which looks to be the coldest night of the week with temperatures in the lower 40’s and some places only reaching into the 30’s! These are the coldest temperatures the Big Country has seen since March.
Friday we should again see nice weather, mostly sunny, but with the cooler than average temperatures in the 60’s and lows in the lower 50’s. This weekend looks to bring us our next chance of rain as we bring in our next disturbance. Temperatures will stay a few degrees below average reaching into the mid 70’s through the weekend with rain chances Saturday through Monday.

Tuesday Night Update

We had some rainfall move through the Big Country this morning. Some locations saw quite a bit of precipitation. Abilene Regional Airport picked up 0.30" while Sweetwater and Brownwood picked up around an inch. There was quite a bit of cloud cover through the day after the rain stopped. The sun was able to break out late this afternoon and help push our highs into the upper 60s to mid 70s.
Warmer temperatures should return tomorrow due to mostly sunny skies and winds from the west-southwest at 10 to 15 mph. Highs will likely be in the low to mid 80s.
A cold front is expected to arrive in the area late tomorrow night and early Thursday. There is a slight chance of a few showers as the front moves through. Windy conditions are expected with the front as well. It will be a struggle to get out of the 50s for highs, but some locations should make it into the low 60s.
Friday should be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 60s.
Our next chance for rain looks to be this weekend. An upper level low will set up again to our west and send some disturbances in our direction before the low itself moves close to the region. For now the chance for rain is 20%, but that could increase as we get closer to the end of the week.

Thunderstorms push through

High Temperatures yesterday stayed below average for the first time in a few weeks only reaching high of 78 here in Abilene. This will be the trend for the next few days. Monday night and into Tuesday morning thunderstorms and showers moved through the Big Country, at around 30 mph, though the really strong storms stayed to the South of our viewing area. We did have a few stronger thunderstorms move through Robert Lee, Ballinger and Coleman.
We will continue the chance of precipitation today because of the front right across west central Texas, the most likely chance being in the morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures will stay cooler than average reaching around 70’s for a high and 50’s for lows. Winds will stay around 10 mph switching from the SE to NW.
Tomorrow we should see a decrease in clouds and a beautiful day before our next cold front moves through Wednesday night into Thursday. Temperatures should reach higher 70’s. We could see a chance of rain associated with this front but that will depend on how much moisture we will have available. Bring out the jackets Thursday with Partly Cloudy skies and much cooler temperatures we will just barely make it into the 60’s in some places and could even see some 30’s for lows. We had quite a bit of cloud cover across the area today as well as some rainfall. The showers and thunderstorms were mainly across the western portions of the area. This gave us a wide range of highs in the Big Country. In the west, highs were in the upper 60s while the southeast got into the upper 80s.
There is a good chance for more showers and storms across the entire area tonight and tomorrow. An upper level low to our west sending disturbances our way will combine with a stationary front to bring us a 60% chance of rain through tomorrow. Some of the storms could be severe with the main threats being large hail and damaging winds. Also, there will likely be some patchy fog in some locations tonight and early tomorrow. Highs for Tuesday should be in the low 70s. However, if we have a lot of clouds and rain most of the day it may be in the 60s. If we see enough sunshine, we could make it into the mid to upper 70s.
Wednesday should be dry with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid to upper 70s.
Much cooler temperatures should arrive late Wednesday night into Thursday with the arrival of an arctic front. This will be the coldest air we have seen so far this season. A few showers can't be ruled out with the arrival of the front. We will be lucky to make the low 60s for highs on Thursday. Lows Thursday night should reach the upper 30s to low 40s.

Big Changes This Week, Lots of Rain Chances

Showers and Thunderstorms should be isolated throughout the morning with most the activity beginning through afternoon and continuing through early morning hours, some of the storms could be severe. Today we should see high temperatures in the upper 70’s in the western part of our viewing area and lower 80’s throughout the rest of the Big Country. Fall is coming!

Sunday we will see one more day of the similar conditions we have seen for the last few weeks with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures reaching into the mid to lower 80’s and low’s reaching the lower 60’s.
Monday looks to be our first chance of rain since the 17th of September. We will have Mostly Cloudy skies but temperatures should still just stay in the 80’s for highs and lower 60’s for lows. We will get a brush of colder temperatures Tuesday as a cold front approaches the area but the cold front does not look like it will make it through our area only hitting the panhandle. Best chance of precipitation will be Tuesday depending on how much moisture we have available. Highs should reach into the mid 70’s with low’s in the upper 50’s. Wednesday we will see partly cloudy skies and temperatures really beginning to feel like fall with lows reaching into the 40’s. High should remain still in the 70’s for that day.
Our next cold front should move through sometime Wednesday night into Thursday and will bring with it some cool artic air. I know I have sounded like a broken record all week, but the warm temperatures continued again today here in the Big Country. Highs reached the upper 80s to low 90s in many locations. For those of you who like warm temperatures, I hope you enjoyed it because much cooler conditions are on the horizon.
The upper level high pressure ridge that has dominated over the area this week will shift to the east this weekend. A trough in the west that contains an upper level low will begin moving closer to the area. This will bring more moisture and some disturbances into the region. Our chance for rain will begin late Sunday at slight and increase to 30% by Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the mid 80s on Saturday, but fall into the mid 70s by Tuesday.
It looks like a cold front will arrive in the Big Country late Wednesday or early Thursday. The chance for rain with this front is only slight to 20%. This front may bring the coolest air we have had so far this season Thursday and Friday. Highs look to be in the mid to upper 60s with lows in the mid to upper 40s. Get the long sleeve shirts and sweaters ready.

This weekend is going to be a pretty quiet and dry, great weather for all the festivals going on around the Big Country. Today we should see highs reach into the upper 80’s with Sunny skies. Overnight lows will be hitting the lower 60’s. Saturday and Sunday temperatures should cool down a few degrees hitting the lower 80’s for highs with Partly Cloudy skies.
Getting into next week we may see some big changes. For now, we have fizzled out the cold front that was forecasted for Sunday night into Monday but have still kept some rain chances in the forecast. Chance of precipitation and amount will all dependent on how much moisture we can get into our area and the path of the cut off low that is currently sitting over California. Temperatures should still stay around average or a little lower throughout the beginning of the work week though we may see a big change towards the end of the work week as an artic air mass may push into much of the United States. Right now models are a bit uncertain but we should know more by the beginning of the next week.
For now I have kept rain chances Monday- Thursday with highs in the upper 70’s lows in the upper 50’s.

Thursday Night Update

It was another warm afternoon across the area today with highs in the 80s and low 90s. It felt relatively comfortable today as dewpoints remained in the 50s.
The upper level high pressure ridge will continue to sit over the region through tomorrow. This will give us another afternoon with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
The ridge will begin shifting to the east this weekend allowing a trough in the west to begin affecting the area. An upper level low should send some disturbances our direction beginning Sunday. Combine this with the arrival of two cold fronts the first half of next week and we have several rain chances. Those chances are slight to 30% due to the question of how much moisture will be in place. The best shot of precipitation looks to be on Monday. Highs this weekend will be in the low to mid 80s. Next week, however, we will cool down into the 70s for highs.

Good Morning from your Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly….
Temperatures for the most part stayed in the 80’s yesterday except for a few areas around Brownwood and Comanche reaching barely into the 90’s. With the light winds and few clouds it was a perfect day to be outside. Today temperatures should cool down a couple degrees with everyone around the Big Country reaching into the 80’s. Our winds will be from the North, Northwest 5-10 mph because of the Cold front that moved through the pan handle yesterday and that is sitting just to a North. The winds will switch back by tonight to the East Southeast at 5 mph with Temperatures reaching the low 60’s.
Friday and Saturday will be the last of this long pattern as the upper level ridge moves to the East and more clouds begin to build throughout the weekend. Temperatures will stay in the mid 80’s with lows in the lower 60’s.
Our next trough will begin to move towards the Big Country by the beginning of the next work week bringing a Cold front along with it. Right now that front looks to pass through on Monday morning brining a drop in Temperatures Sunday into Monday. But there still is some uncertainty to when exactly it will come through. For right now Temperatures the beginning of next week should stay in the lower 70’s with rain chances up until Wednesday. After the front passes we will begin to see winds from the Northwest which will dry us out and alleviate the rain chances.

Temperatures continue to remain above normal for the next few days but it does look like relief is in the forecast. Today we will cool down a few degrees most of us staying into the upper 80’s with just a few cities maybe hitting the lower 90’s. We will get a break from the winds, lightening up to around 5 mph. Over Night temps should stick in the mid 60’s.
Thursday through Saturday should be similar to the past week though we should see some more clouds towards the weekend. Temperatures will decrease a few more degrees getting into the Mid 80’s as the upper level ridge pushes to the East.
Behind that ridge we should see a trough move into place brining us a change in weather. Temperatures will get down to normal or even below normal for this time of year with highs reaching the low 80’s to upper 70’s. Right now there is a chance for rain Sunday through Tuesday with a cold front moving through sometime beginning of next week.

Temperatures continued to stay in the 90’s yesterday and will continue to stick around 90 degrees for the next few days. The upper level ridge looks to remain until the weekend keeping with it Sunny skies and Starry nights. Temperatures will cool down just a few degrees making it into the upper 80’s Wednesday through the weekend as the center of the Ridge moves to our east. We will continue to get the South winds and they could be gusty at times.
Columbus could be brining us some luck as our next a big change could be in the forecast Sunday into Monday as our next best chance of rain looks to come on Columbus Day. We could also see our next Cold front pushing through the beginning of next week and we will know more about exacting timing over the next few days. Right now we should see temperatures to get back to normal towards the beginning of next week.

Changes may begin this weekend as the ridge shifts to the east. This means temperatures should cool down a little bit into the mid 80s. We'll probably have a little bit more cloud cover as well.
Temperatures will likely continue to cool early next week due to a possible cold front that may move into the area. For now, there is a 20% chance of rain that could increase as we get closer to that time period.

With an Upper Level Ridge sitting over us for the next week we will see the summer like conditions to continue. Today we should see Mostly Sunny skies with temperatures continuing to be in the low 90’s, the northern viewing areas could even reach mid 90’s. Temperatures overnight won’t be much of a break reaching into the upper 60’s with mostly clear skies. Winds will continue to be from the South between 10 and 20 mph but gusts could reach up 25 mph.

A Warm Work Week

The first of October was a warm one across much of the Big Country. Highs ranged from the low 80s in the western portions of the viewing area to the mid 90s in the southeast. The reason for the temperature differential was cloud cover. The sky was mostly cloudy for much of the day near Snyder while Brownwood had a mostly sunny one.
The upper level high pressure ridge that has built into the area this weekend will remain in place for at least the next seven days. This means the warm temperatures will hang around and rain chances will be pretty much zero. Highs look to be in the upper 80s to low 90s with lows in the mid to upper 60s.

Fantastic Weekend

I hope you like summer because it has returned for the next few days! Highs will remain in the 90’s until beginning of next week with Mostly Sunny skies, lows reaching into the mid to upper 60’s. A ridge that will sit over us will cause these warmer than normal temperatures and Southerly winds between 10-15 mph. October Will Start Off Toasty

The warm temperatures returned to the Big Country today as highs reached the upper 80s to low 90s across the area. A little more moisture returned as well with dewpoints getting into the 50s, so it didn't feel quite as comfortable as yesterday.

Temperatures overnight got a bit chilly reaching into the low 50’s in the early morning hour. The cold front that moved through yesterday morning kept High temperatures only into the 70’s yesterday but Sunny skies still persisted because of the dry air we still have in the Big Country.
Today those temperatures will begin a warming trend reaching into the mid to upper 80’s tonight with lows in the mid 60’s. It will be a beautiful night for Friday night football. Tomorrow and Sunday we will reach into the low 90’s for highs making it feel more like Summer than Fall. It will be an overall great weekend to get out and enjoy that pool once last time.
I hope you enjoy sunny weather because it looks like it is going to continue for the next seven days. A ridge, which means a High pressure system, will sit pretty over the Western United States into mid next week. We had much cooler temperatures today thanks to the cold front that moved through the area this morning. Highs were mainly in the 70s. A weak upper level disturbance caused a few showers and thunderstorms in Mitchell, Coke, and Runnels counties.
Tomorrow looks to be a pleasant and warmer day. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s under sunny skies. It may be breezy at times with winds from the south-southwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Unfortunately, rain chances are pretty much non-existent for the next seven days.
We have our ninth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. Tropical Storm Isaac is 635 miles east-southeast of Bermuda. It has 45 mph sustained winds according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center. The latest path projection has it staying out to sea and passing Bermuda to the east.

Wednesday Night Update
From Chief Meteorologist Brandon Rector...
We returned to summer-like conditions today with highs in the 90s across the Big Country. A few showers and thunderstorms fired up along a surface trof this afternoon. Extreme southern Coleman and Brown counties did see a little bit of this rain, but the bulk of it was south of the viewing area.
A cold front will move through the area overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. A stray shower or thunderstorm can't be ruled out, but our chance looks to be less than slight due to a lack of moisture. Lows tonight should be in the low to mid 50s while highs will only make it into the low to mid 70s for Thursday. We can expect breezy conditions with the passage of the front.
Below average temperatures should continue on Friday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. It looks to be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies.
An upper level high pressure ridge will build into the region this weekend and hang around through at least the middle of next week. Above average temperatures should return with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Temperatures Yesterday did reach the high 80’s and the winds started to pick up especially overnight with gusts reaching over 30 mph. Today temperatures will continue to rise and reach just into the 90’s with lots of winds and lots of Sun.
Tonight the cold front will begin to pass through our viewing area, as it does winds will begin to change from our dry warm southwesterly to north northwest but still continuing to be breezy staying at 5 -15 mph, tonight and tomorrow being the strongest with gusts again into the 30 mph. Temperatures will be dropping as the polar air moves through and lows should get down to the mid 50’s overnight. There will not be a lot of rain associated with this front because of our lack of moisture from those dry winds. Right now the chance is less than slight meaning less than 10 percent, which means maybe a stray shower but nothing looking to likely. The front should fully push through in the morning hours of Thursday only pushing highs into the mid 70’s.
The cold air will stick around through Friday and then we will gradually begin to warm back up to normal or a little above normal with highs reaching into the mid to upper 80’s and lows in the mid 60’s. We are expecting a little more moisture coming in after the front because the deep trough that has been over us will begin to move east. This moisture right now is not looking to produce rain but it may give us a chance for a cloud or two which we haven’t seen to often this week.

Today we will see a warming trend for next two days reaching close to 90 today and into the low 90’s tomorrow. We will also see an increase in winds with Gusts picking up to 20 mph today and tomorrow up to 30 mph. Otherwise across the Big Country, lots of sunshine with lows tonight staying in the mid 60’s, SW winds 5-15 mph.
Wednesday night our next front will move through decreasing our temperatures to the high 70’s, and lows into the lower 50’s for Thursday and Friday. It doesn’t look like we will have much rain associated with this front because of the dry air that will be dominating. Saturday through Monday our temperatures should begin to warm back up to highs in the mid 80’s and lows in the mid 60’s with Partly Cloudy skies.

Monday Night Update

It was a picture perfect day across the Big Country. We started off cool this morning with lows in the mid 40s to 50, and ended up a little warm this afternoon with highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s.
The warming trend looks to continue for the next couple of days with high pressure remaining in control over the region. Skies should remain mostly sunny with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s.
A cold front is expected to arrive in the area Thursday morning. We have a slight chance for rain Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon. The reason the rain chance is slight is due to the lack of moisture that will be in place. It looks like there won't be enough moisture for a lot of rainfall, but maybe just enough for a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid to upper 70s under partly cloudy skies.
Mostly sunny skies are expected Friday through Monday with highs ranging from the upper 70s for the end of the work week and upper 80s for the start of the next one.

Cooler Temperatures This Weekend

It was another hot and breezy day across the Big Country with highs reaching the low to mid 90s this afternoon. A little bit more moisture was in place today, but not enough to see any rainfall. Remember that the fall season officially begins tonight at 11:03 p.m.
One the first full day of fall we will have a cold front make its way into the area by the morning and pass through by late afternoon. There is a slight chance for some isolated showers and thunderstorms with the best shot for rain being in the eastern portions of the viewing area. That is where the best moisture build-up will be. Highs should be cooler in the low to mid 80s.
Sunday through Tuesday are expected to be pleasant with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s.
Another cold front may affect us late Wednesday and into Thursday. The chance for rain is slight to 20%. Highs look to cool down into the 70s for Thursday and next Friday.

Yesterday with the front passing through we warmed up temps and reached the low 90’s with a few showers early in the day. With the winds continuing to blow from the South West the temperatures will get even warmer staying in the low to mid 90’s today. We should see mostly sunny skies but with continuing breezy conditions from 15-25 mph.
Fall officially starts tomorrow with the Autumn Equinox and it looks like our area will begin it will “fall like” weather. Overnight temperatures should get down to the upper 60’s with clear skies. Winds will begin to change from the SSW to the NNW and through out Saturday come from the North. This will be because of our next Cold Front that will be moving through Friday night into Saturday. After the front passes temperatures will drop to highs only in the lower 80’s to upper 70’s. Sunday being the coldest right after the front passes. Lows will drop to upper 50’s so you might need a jacket if you will be outside at all during the evening. There will be a slight chance for a shower with the front but because of the dryline that just pushed through bringing dry air we don’t have a lot of moisture, one of the ingredients needed to boost the chances for rain. The best chance would be for our Eastern viewing area where moisture from the gulf has been pushed up.
The next week looks enjoyable with temperatures staying in the mid 80’s and lows in the upper 50’s with Mostly Sunny skies.

It was a hot and windy day across the Big Country as highs reached the upper 80s to mid 90s. There was a little bit of rain in the area overnight last night, but nothing developed this afternoon. A trace of rainfall was picked up at Abilene Regional Airport before dawn this morning.
We can expect another hot and windy day tomorrow. Highs should be in the low to mid 90s with winds from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph. The fire danger will be elevated tomorrow so please be careful. Also, use caution if driving a high profile vehicle.
Beginning tomorrow night and into the day Saturday, moisture is expected to build back into the region. A cold front is expected to move through the Big Country on Saturday. Depending on how much moisture is in place, we could see some showers and thunderstorms. The chance for rainfall Friday night through Saturday night is slight. The best shot at precipitation is going to be in the eastern portions of the viewing area. That is where the best moisture should be. Highs on Saturday will reach the low to mid 80s.

Temperatures stayed just at normal yesterday reaching into the mid 80’s. It was beautiful with Sunny skies but if you were outside at all you probably realized the strength of the wind with gusts getting up to over 30 mph.
This morning a front is pushing through popping up a few scattered showers though mainly out of our area. We are still very dry with most of the moisture staying off to the west. As this pushes through more dry air will move in behind it and temperatures will increase into the 90’s. We will still have strong winds through the day with winds at 20-30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Relative humidity will decrease staying between 10-20% with the highest only up to 30% in the western counties. Wind advisories are in effect until this evening at 7 pm and because of that and the dry air they have elevated the fire danger to a fire watch. Make sure to take extra precaution if you will be outdoors.
Tomorrow will be sunny with temps even warmer reaching the mid 90’s and lows near 70 degrees. We will still see strong Southwest winds between 15-25 mph. Friday night there will be another chance for a shower right before our next cold front pushes through. Early Saturday the front should drive through bring with it a chance for a shower and cooler temperatures. Winds will change from the Southwest winds which has been bringing the hot dry temperatures, to the North/Northwest and eventually becoming Northeast and decreasing to around 10 mph. Behind the front we will see sunny skies with enjoyable temperatures sticking into the lower 80’s for highs and low’s into the high 50’s.

It was another beautiful, but breezy day across the area. Highs were in the mid to upper 80s which is a little above average for this time of year. Dewpoints have risen a little into the upper 40s to mid 50s, but it still felt comfortable.
Moisture should continue to build into the area tonight and early tomorrow. An upper level low to our nortwest may push an upper level disturbance over the area tonight and a dryline through the Big Country tomorrow. The chance for rain is only slight because we may not build enough moisture into all levels of the atmosphere before these lifting mechanisms arrive. Once the dryline passes us by early in the day, the chance for rain will be over for a little while.
Tomorrow will be a hot and windy day with highs in the low 90s. Winds are expected to be from the southwest at 20 to 30 mph. Gusts could reach as high as 40 mph. Because of this most of the area is under a Wind Advisory and Fire Weather Watch. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Stephens and Eastland counties for Thursday. Everyone should be careful tomorrow with the elevated fire danger.

The one big change- the wind! It will be very breezy over the next few days as a trough pushes through. We should have warmer overnight lows only getting down to the upper 60’s tonight and tomorrow.
Tomorrow a dryline will be pushing through, it could bring a chance of rain for our very Northern counties but most likely to the Western part of Texas. With the limited moisture it is not as probable for our area. High’s will become unseasonable warm for Thursday and Friday reaching into the lower 90’s and will continue to have even drier environment and breezy conditions.
Saturday our next Cold Front will push through bringing the temperatures from the 90’s back to below average keeping them in the lower 80’s with lows maybe even tipping into the upper 50’s. There will be a slight chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday but because our environment is very dry, Relative Humidity not even reaching 30%, the chance is limited.

Tuesday Night Update

It was another pleasant day across the Big Country as temperatures were a little below average for this time of year. Highs were in the low to mid 80s. Comfortable conditions remained with dewpoints in the 40s.
The warming trend continues tomorrow with highs in the upper 80s. Dewpoints will begin to rise into the 50s, so it won't be quite as comfortable as it has been the last couple of days. You'll need to hang on to your hat since breezy conditions are expected.
We will have well above average temperatures on Thursday and Friday with highs in the low 90s. It will continue to be breezy to windy on both days. There is also a slight chance for rain due to the dryline being active. The chance is only slight because it looks as though the best moisture will be in the eastern portions of the state and the best dynamics will be just to our north.
A cold front is expected to arrive on Saturday so the slight chance for rain will continue. Highs should be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Temperatures swing back down below average for Sunday through Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.
Hurricane Gordon has weakened today. According to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center its maximum sustained winds are 85 mph. It will continue on an eastward track and move over the Azores tonight.
Hurricane Helene has weakened a little bit today as well. Its maximum sustained winds are 110 mph. The latest path projection from the National Hurricane Center has it moving towards Bermuda, but making a turn to the north and passing the island to the east.

It was another pleasant day across the Big Country as temperatures were a little below average for this time of year. Highs were in the low to mid 80s. Comfortable conditions remained with dewpoints in the 40s.
The warming trend continues tomorrow with highs in the upper 80s. Dewpoints will begin to rise into the 50s, so it won't be quite as comfortable as it has been the last couple of days. You'll need to hang on to your hat since breezy conditions are expected.
We will have well above average temperatures on Thursday and Friday with highs in the low 90s. It will continue to be breezy to windy on both days. There is also a slight chance for rain due to the dryline being active. The chance is only slight because it looks as though the best moisture will be in the eastern portions of the state and the best dynamics will be just to our north.
A cold front is expected to arrive on Saturday so the slight chance for rain will continue. Highs should be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Temperatures swing back down below average for Sunday through Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.

Tuesday Morning Update
Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! From your Morning Meteorologist Kristen Connolly...
Temperatures will stay a few degrees below normal for this time of year still while we are still affected by the cold front that moved through Sunday. A High pressure system will be dominating our area and today bringing us very sunny skies with temperatures reaching into the mid 80’s. Tonight we will once again see clear skies with temperatures reaching the higher 50’s.
Tomorrow will once again be a Sunny day with temperatures just at normal, the difference will be the gusty winds brought about by the next Low moving in. Wednesday night the trough from Rockies could bring our next chance for rain although very slight because of the dry air and limited moisture. The best chance would be for our Northern Counties. The biggest impact will be the winds, with wind gusts getting as strong as 30 mph Thursday. Temperatures should stay warm from the dry line with even significantly drier air. Highs Wednesday-Friday will reach into the upper 80’s and lows into the mid 60’s.
As fall officially begins Saturday we should see a bit of a cool down from another weak cold front moving through Friday following right after the last one. It will bring high temperatures back down into the lower 80’s and lows in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s.
